A Great Card With Plenty of Usages!!!
Review of VISA Electron by katpuss

Advantages: Widely accepted, safer than carrying around cash
Disadvantages: None so far!

I've held a Visa Electron card since I experienced financial problems a few years back. I hold a Cooperative Bank and a Halifax Easycash Visa Electron card and they are a godsend to me. Electrons are accepted in most UK supermarkers (Asda, Sainsburys, Tescos), Ebid, HMV, Woolworths, Evans, Burtons, TK Maxx, Burger King, McDonalds, Boots, GAME, Rosebys, B & Q, Post Office, Lloyds Pharmacy, Jessops, the list is endless!!! More and more retailers are ...
...website accepts only a classic Visa you card details will still go through as a Visa card! Online banking with an Electron account is simple and you can still set up direct debits, standing orders, one off payments. It is also accepted at 99% of cashpoints in the UK especially the Link Cashpoints. But most importantly I can't go overdrawn so I can't get into any more debt. I would certainly recommend this card to youngsters, those who don't want ... Read review

Solo is poor at best...
Review of Solo by chavista

Advantages: it makes you feel like you have a debit card.
Disadvantages: it fails to perform as a viable debit card when you need it most.

I gave this one star because I am from the United States. I have NEVER had such a hassle with a debit card in my life. The worst part for me is that I commute into central London and THE NATIONAL RAIL DOES NOT ACCEPT SOLO...it's the only card they don't recognize actually. I still have an account in the states and my debit card from there works fine to buy train tickets, but it adds a $10 fee for the transaction. I have been in very awkward moments ... Read review

Paypal or Paycon
Review of PayPal by aragorn01

Advantages: Protects your banking details when transfers money accross, works almost seamless with ebay
Disadvantages: Unreasonable proof required when a dispute is filed

...item), for the most part Paypal have done their job very well acted as an intermediary while keeping my banking details private. Which they do very well and have the bonus of buyer protection. Negative Buying experience Recently I have had a taste of Paypal's Cavat Emptor Policy (let the buyer beware). I bought a DVD which is less than 15-20 years old and within copyright on their partner site site (www.ebay.co.uk). What I got through was a copy ...
...notepaper and send this to paypal who will then support your dispute - not sure how many shops would do this considering your didn't buy and probably don't plan on buying from them - when I asked where else I could get this required paperwork to support my dispute - Silence, not a word, zip and nada from Paypal to guide me to where I can find the holy grail of proof to support my dispute. This has put me off buying DVDs off Ebay in future, especially ... Read review

All your cards covered for just £12!
Review of Card Protection Plan by computerxpert

Advantages: All your cards, wallet, bags, passport, drivers license, NIC protected
Disadvantages: No website to add cards

...driver's license, your National Insurance card and add a few store cards and some cash and you have an average persons wallet or purse. What is CPP? Let's say your out doing your Christmas shopping and someone decides to steal your wallet. You have a bunch of bank and credit cards plus some cash in it. If you live say ten minutes drive away it's going to take you ten minutes to get home. You then have to find a number of bank statements to call ...
...Card Protection Plan or CPP is like insurance for your bank, store, credit and other cards you might have in your purse or wallet. It also insures any money in your wallet/purse and the wallet/pulse and/or bag. Instead of calling all them banks up you simply fill in a simple form with CPP and pay them £12. On the form you just write down the name on the card, the card or account number and the bank or company who it's issued by. You can also add ... Read review

Sentinel. Terrible cancellation procedure
Review of Sentinel Card Services by roserb

Advantages: overwritten by disadvantages
Disadvantages: You can not get out

...I have been with Sentinel for years and when I decided I no longer wanted their services I wrote a letter to cancel them and they claim not to have received it. I have also contacted them by phone. But they do not offer Reference numbers for the phone calls so you have no way of proving you have called them to cancel the services. Terrible. it´s a catch 22 situation. They have just told me that because I have been charged again 2 weeks ago, I am ...
...states that you have 90 days to cancel your cover. It is a nightmare I am going through an ordeal and the co-op who recommended their services (and advertises them in their website! ) refuses to help- I have asked them not to not accept their charges and they said they can not do this. Terrible. If anyone could advise of any action I could take next to cancel this service I would be grateful if they would let me know. Awful experience when you try ... Read review
