Is the world fair?
Review of World's Fair - E. L. Doctorow by  duskmaiden

Advantages: rich narrative, great source for social historins
Disadvantages: lack of direction, very little plot

.... they all feature the role of immigration in America’s history. The problem I had with World Fair was its pace and the lack of direction in the plot. I felt that throughout most of the book it was plodding along with the only sense of direction and continuity being Edgar getting older. I wondered where the book was going to end, and what was the real point of this book apart from Doctorow using his factious self to dwell on his childhood? However during the second half with the first mention of the World Fair there seemed to be a point to the story. The World Fair featured in the name of the book was a huge event held in New York in 1939 and 1940. The main aim of the fair was to promoter America’s position in the world whilst looking forward to the future. This was symbolised in the buildings that were the symbols of the fair the globe like... Horrific and artistic
Review of Duma Key - Stephen King by  Shortsharpshock

Advantages: Engaging characters and story, menacing horror.
Disadvantages: The art side of things can slow the pace down.

More in desperation than hope, Edgar take his psychiatrists advice and takes a break from it all in the beautiful Florida backwater of "Duma Key". In this place Edgar finds a new purpose and passion in painting and his vivid paintings of sunsets soon begin to attract attention. However, does the phantom itch in his missing arm mean something and why does he seem compelled to paint the tragic story of the doomed sisters of Duma Key? It has been a long time since I have read a Stephen King novel. After the woeful, self-indulgent tripe that was "Lisey's Story" I have intentionally had a break from my favourite author. As a self-professed "constant... Read review

Wuthering Heights has decomposed
Review of Wuthering heights - Emily Bronte by  siany

Advantages: You can make a fire with the paper
Disadvantages: Too many to mention

...away and Cathy marries Edgar who lives in asmall holding at the bottom of the estate. But, Cathy realises the mistake she has made specifically when H comes back.Out of jeolousy he marries Edgars sister Isabelle and basically they eventually realise how much they feel for each other after it is too late. Cathy dies and Heathcliffe keeps her body by his side.Yes, it would be called very sick if it was written now. I did this for Alevel so my opinion might be a bit too judgemental. Make u'r own mind up if you feel up the challenge of reading this over rated novel.... Read review
