Advantages Kep your hands clean on the move

Disadvantages The flimsy lid

Surely this product should be described as one of the 'must haves' for a bag in 2009.

I am sure like many, are keen to keep well and keep the germs away, particularly with the approaching autumn and winter, I like to make sure that I do as much as possible to keep myself well. The Carex hand gel range is great and has been designed to be discreet and small enought to fit into a handbag.

My favourite choice in their range is the aloe vera version, which I have ben using for some time now. I tend to use this gel when I have been using public transport, been in a busy supermarket or out playing sports with my friends in a park. It gives me the confidence to know that I am not out there spreading any of my nasty germs around!

The bottle is transparent and the liquid gel is a 'gentle' green colour. It has an antiscpetic like smell which is what you would expect it to have, somehow this makes me feel that I am using a product that will definitely keep me clean.

Each bottle contains up to one hundred applications (or squirts really!) and I have found that even with my big old manly hands, one squirt does in fact go a long way. The addition of the aloe vera ensures that my skin does not dry out too quickly. These anti bacterial gels are all well and good, but they do play havoc with skin, making it dry and flaky if you ar enot careful.

The liquid gel quickly evaporates into my skin and leaves no strong scent, it is instead, very gentle and mild...people are not going to know that you have been sterilising your hands for hours to come!

The container is sturdy, but the lid is somewhat of a disappointment. I find that this lid easily falls off into the bottomless pit that is my bag and I ofetn do not bother to retrieve it. This can lead on occasion, to some of the liquid spilling into my bag and often onto my ipod....very annoying.

The gel claims to kill 99.9% of all known germs, which I find very reassuring and is available for th ebargain price of 99 pence. I purchased mine from a Superdrug store, but I am reliably informed that they are available in most pharmacies, supermarkets and often at busy places like tube stations.

This gel does not remove the need to regularly wash your hands in hot water, but it does enable you to feel you have clean hands during busy days or in particular, when you are out and about on busy days.

I would also suggest that this is something ideal for a school bag or pencil case. It would be well worth encouraging your child to adopt a good routine of using this gel during school hours.

A great all round way to keep my hands feeling clean, fresh and germ free.

Summary: A must for any bag
