Carex hand gel I like to carry antibacterial products round with me not because I am obsessed with germs but because of the job i do and also when i am out and about with little Miss. The gels are apparently based on the products used in hospitals and promise to kill 99.9% of bacteria. They are instantly drying and contain moisturisers to keep hands soft. Because they clean hands without water they are good for times when you want clean hands but can't get to soap and water.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING... I have the small 50ml bottle which I find is most useful for popping it into my bag or pocket. It's a small clear plastic bottle with a lid on the top, presumably so that you don't inadvertently squeeze the top. The gel is applied by pressing the pump action, and releases a small amount of the gel. I find that 3 or 4 squirts are sufficient to clean hands. Given that there are apparently 100 applications per bottle then this lasts me about 25 hand washes. The gel itself has a clean smell but not so much that it smells really anti bacterial, and it doesn't linger overly long, just like soap would linger. The gel is clear and non greasy and really does dry almost instantly, leaving no sticky residue.
HOW TO USE IT...
Simply squirt a bit onto your hands and rub them together as though you are giving them a wash. That's about it really, and because it dries, there is no need to wipe off. PRODUCTS IN THE RANGE... There are a number of similar products including;
Sensitive (the one I have) They are available in small 50ml bottles and larger 200ml bottles.
VERDICT...I cant remember how much this cost but it wasn't too expensive, and i have seen it in budget shops costing £1- when i have seen it i these shops, then I have bought several of the bottles.
The hand gel is handy to keep in my bag and in the car and we use it when we are travelling anywhere or if we can't get to running water (not often but it can happen). I don't know if all of the germs are killed because I can't see the germs but when I use it I do feel reassured that my hands are clean although i still don't think it beats a good hand wash.
The gel dries quickly and although I am convinced that there is no after taste Little Miss is sure that if she eats anything afterwards then she can taste the gel very very slightly- clearly it has not harmed her!
I think this is a handy product to carry around for the reassurance of clean hands and i like the fresh clean feeling it gives my hands. I would recommend it for anyone who goes on picnics and similar!!
