~ CARMENGIRLS.COM ANGEL CURLS 11509 ~ Along with my GHD's, and various other electrical hair equipment I also have CarmenGirl Angel Curls for those times that I want a real curl or ringlet effect to my hair. My GHD's are great for giving a flicked effect, and light curl, but I find Angel Curls perfect for a real twist or tight curl.- Angel Curls came boxed in a girly looking black and pink flowered box. It looks to me from the presentation that this hair product is aimed at the teenager, being pink, girly, and flowery. There is also a picture of a young teenage girl upon the box displaying loose ringlets upon her head.
~ THE ANGEL CURLS ~
Angel Tongs are corded stylers, with a Maximum wattage of 25. The actual tongs are long and fairly bulky, but I actually quite like that about them. At fourteen inches long I find them very adequate for actually gripping the hair and controlling the twist and curl. My hair is pretty long, about half way down my back so I need something quite substantial that will gather the length of my hair up, and Angel Curls does that impressively, and without any bother. Though aimed at the younger end of the market, with the funky candy pink colouring of the tongs, these are a useful addition to hair care for any age of woman. In fact I actually bought them for their pretty colour. There were other stylers I considered, but these really caught my eye. The Angel Curls basically comprise of a pink chunky handle and tip, with a contrasting grey on off switch and curl holder, which also has two arrows there to remind you which way you should turn the tongs when styling the hair, which in this case is clockwise. It also incorporates a red dot on the grip, which will turn to brown when the tongs have reached the desired heat, which will take about ten minutes, and a red 'On' light indicator. To the tip you have a clear plastic water holder which supplies the steam used for the moisturising and the strong curling effect. It unscrews and you fill a small channel within the top half of the styler with the water, which is then drawn up through the wick at the end of the tongs. Of course this must be done when styler is not plugged in! There is one temperature setting, and the tongs take about 10 minutes to reach the required heat. At the base of the tongs you have two little standing feet to rest the styler upon between curls, which will also protect the surface you are sitting the tongs on. The stylers are solid in the hand though not too heavy, and the curl release can be operated with the thumb whilst in the one hand. The tongs are quite large, but quite lightweight considering their size. I would not say the length of the tongs is a hindrance, and I find them easy to manage whilst styling the hair. The barrel of the tongs is a hot pink and the plates are made from a ceramic material, which is gentler on the hair and will protect it from heat damage and splitting. The barrel is the part of the styler that will do the curling effect on your hair and it has grey raised plastic guides spiralling up and around the length of the styler. This is to ensure that each strand of hair will be captured around this spiral coil, and will allow for evenly sized curls or ringlets.
~ HOW TO CREATE YOUR ANGEL CURLS ~
First, without plugging in, fill the plastic reservoir at the tip of your styler with water, and the purpose of this will be to increase and set the strength of the curl. The plastic tip is spring loaded and you push it down a couple of times to produce the steam ready for the styling. The steam will then set the curl in your hair with a firm hold. Hold the curl grip around the end of your hair and twist the tongs towards the arrows in a turning movement, letting your hair spiral around it, as it goes. Grip your hair for roughly 30 seconds, expressing the steam, then let the hair go and gently bring the curl down, then go on to the next section of hair and repeat. The tongs are not hard to use and they do produce great results. Take about a 2 inch section at a time, and the whole process should take you about twenty minutes or so, depending on your length of hair. There is a full instruction leaflet within the box for you to read should you get into any difficulty. The whole process is fairly hassle free, and it doesn't take long to produce curls or ringlets that will last all day or night. If you want nice tight curls, let them fall naturally when taken from the tongs, if you want them looser, ease the curls down, by taking the bottom of the curl with your fingers to pull the curl down slightly. Finish your style off with a good generous spritz of hairspray, or fixing spray to keep the style in place. You will see that the ceramic coated barrel of Angel Curls has produced shiny waves and curls that will last a good while.
~ THE EFFECT~
The Angel Curls creates a very pretty effect. The hair actually looks really natural and it also makes a change from the dead straight effect that the GHD's produce. Curls create a very soft effect around the face, and can soften a hard jaw line. Some faces suit a curly style more than others so you can have fun experimenting with different styles to find one that suits you. Once you have used Angel Curls you are left with a lovely tousled curls effect and you can create the gorgeous loose curls in seconds. Doing a few curls at the front can be very pretty and will not take you too long to do if you are in a rush. Or go for the full head look and look fantastic. It's up to you to create the effect, and I think Angel Curls is a brilliant hair tool to own. A great addition to anyone's hair care selection. I would also invest in a good 'Fixing' spray as this will help to keep the curls lasting all day or night.
~ MY OPINION ~
Well I think Angel Curls are a very good price for the results that they achieve. I found them on Amazon for £14.97 Delivered. Which I thought was a really good price. These are not professional branded tongs with a designer name attached, but they do a really good job of styling and because Angel Curls have managed to keep their prices low, they appeal to all ends of the market. The tongs are suitable for mid to long hair, and all thicknesses too, but because of the fairly large barrel they would not be suitable for too short hair. The stylers also have a very long lead which is always a bonus, and at the base the plastic cord inside is made to swivel and turn as you move the stylers, for ease of use. Angel Curls also have universal voltage so they are ideal for travelling. I personally think they are brilliant for the price and mine have lasted me quite a while now. I have had them for a few years with no problems at all. For the price they cost and the effect that they create, I would have no hesitation in recommending them. - Angel Curls - www.carmengirls.com -
