Anyhow down to the jist of this review, I have to say if you ride a motorcycle these days sometimes its a pain trawling round the insurers getting quotes that seem absolutely crazy, as I've found in the ... ...with all those calls when Carole Nash Insurers can offer probably the best quotes available.
From my experience while I've been insured with Ms. Nash I have always had very reasonable quotes, Initially because I used a policy offering classic insurance designed for older motorcycles. Since then I have had various different policies including one that offers multiple motorcycles on one policy.

Why bother with all those calls when Carole Nash Insurers can offer probably the best quotes available.
From my experience while I've been insured with Ms. Nash I have always had very reasonable quotes, Initially because I used a policy offering classic insurance designed for older motorcycles. Since then I have had various different policies including one that offers multiple motorcycles on one policy.
Most policies offer the usual no claims discount scales as explained below :-
Number of years no claim Reduction One Year 15% Two Year 25% Three Year 33.3% Four Year 40% Five Year 50%
If you only make one claim in any period of insurance, any no claim bonus will be reduced at your next renewal by approx 2 years eg. 5yrs to 3yrs. If you make 2 or more claims then I'm sorry then your no claims has gone. *always check your policy as this may not refer to all, I'm just going of information from all my previous policies.
As with all quotes endorsements will probably affect any quotes given, hey has anyone got a clean license these days(so many cameras!!). Surprisingly I do have a clean license at the moment, Amazing huh!
On my recent policies UK and European breakdown cover has been automatically included with 24 hour, 365 day claims hotline although I've not had to use it.
As like most insurers instalements can be arranged.
At this point I suppose I'd better give you an idea of my most recent quote, this was from the end of 2003 - 32 year old male with a clean license riding a Yamaha EXUP 1000 F reg, with 3 years no claims - Third party fire and theft cover at a price of £164.91. I thought that was cheap, sorry if you disagree.
Carole Nash also does car insurance and travel insurance apparently. Anyhow your probably bored by now so rather than listening to me get to Carole's website or give her a call for a quote, what have you got to lose?

I rang Carole Nash, and spoke to a very friendly, understanding assistant. I explained that I ride cruisers rather than sports bikes, and that cruisers do not go anywhere near as fast as the equivalent 250 sports (about 85 mph, compared to about 110mph). He was very sympathetic with my plight. After taking my details, he asked to put me on hold for a moment. I agreed. He returned (I assume after talking to his supervisor), and quoted ... ...moderate risk area like Reading. They offer low-rate instalment payments, as well as full payment immediately, and cover started immediately. (of course, they send you documents to sign, but the insurance is back-dated to when you phone). They also offer 30-day guaranteed quotes if you do not want the cover to start immediately. Not only is it cheap, but their cover includes *Legal Expenses insurance with DAS (a very good insurer in itself), *Breakdown ...

I've previously worked for carole nash in the new business department, and all i can say is that it's only going to get better in 2008 for all you bikers. Now under new ownership and new management they are really having a massive drive to provide bigger and better policies at the lowest possible prices, there was talk of re-negotiation with underwriters to offer better rates. Also now under the umbrella of Groupama (massive massive company) they ... ...built bikes and of course they would have a lot of negotiating power to get a better deal for you guys and gals.
The new MD, David Newman, in my personal opinion is an absolute asset to the company and will truely put Carole Nash on top...watch this space bikers!!! ...

I have been with CN for many many years now. Over the last few years their customer service has left a lot to be desired.
I renewed my policy with them in June. Arranged payments in four instalments to be taken on specified dates, a service they offered.
The payments were never taken on the dates specified, not even close. Last year they helped themselves to a payment three weeks early!
I have also been waiting for some of my documentation since ... ...a different excuse as to why I have not recieved them on every call, with the promise they will be with me soon. Still waiting. They also have not returned calls when they have said they would.
I used to be very impressed with their customer service but it seems that recently things have been sliding. I can't fault the policies and benefits but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
I will not be renewing with them next year unless they ...

Well when i first started to look for insurance for my motorcycle i looked around for a few days to get a few quotes it can be hard work sometimes as you may know. But my friend told me about a place carol nash, he says he found himself a really good quote from them the best he been given so far.So I got on the phone and right enough they were pretty cheap. I paid them and that was me sorted for a year. It was hassle free. When it was time for me ... ...was expecting it to be cheaper due to me earning 1 years no-claim bonus. It would have been £80 cheaper but they then told me there prices had gone up so actually i paid £2 more than what i did the first time. And the same happend again the next year. Im not sure if any one else has been hit with this problem. ...

has not even twitched. There is a pillion seat, but the foot pegs are so high, that your passenger will have their knees by their ears!
General maintenance is reasonable; with a Haynes manual you can attempt most jobs yourself (even being a girlie!)
The bike is 398cc and so falls into the £30pa road tax bracket, and my insurance through CarolNash is cheaper than my car.
Overall the Brakes are excellent, the engine superb, the handling smooth and it can take corners faster than the big boys.

Air and oil changes have been easy, and trivial, just undo 3 nuts and remove the air box cover, remove and replace the paper filter, then replace the cover. oil change is the same as a car, just drain the oil, replace the filter if needed, and refill.
My first year insurance from carolnash, came to 400 quid for third party fire and theft, 1 years ncd, my 2nd year insurance came from footman james, at 245 quid third part fire and theft, no ncd as i had an accident., for the same basic services.
A mot costs 45 pounds for the test, the bike got through just fine as i serviced it before hand. (mot test is quicker and easyer than for a car, basicaly its the same checks your supposed to do each time you ride the bike, and a emmisions test) the test itself takes less than half an hour, and this is refected in the price.
