Review of The Lost Girl - Caroline Roberts by
crackpotjen
Advantages: Non really
Disadvantages: Horrifying
...This is the story of a woman who used to be a nanny for Fred and Rose West. She was unaware of their behaviour even when she was living with them, but as soon as something went wrong, she ran a mile.
Caroline didn't have a normal life. She was born to a woman who wasn't married and her father didn't want to know after a few years as he was a devout Catholic. Soon her mother remarried to a man named Alf who she argued with and did a typical "step daughter" behaviour. She goes onto say how at the age of 12 she was sexually aussaulted by an old man. When telling her mother and police about this, she found out that this had once happened to her when she was very young, however her step father was certain that jerriatrics don't know what they are doing.
A few years later she tells us how she used to hitch hike to see her boyfriend...

Advantages: True Story
Disadvantages: Graphic and distressing details

The book is 278 pages long and it starts with an introduction to her childhood, and the suffering she endured when her parents spilt up, her father rejected her and went back to live in Ireland, her stepfather then rejected her and her stepbrothers constantly bullied and verbally abused her, she states that the only person she ever truly loved was her mother, because she was her fathers daughter, and he was the only man her mother ever truly...

READ- CONSEQUENCES & CREATION
Review of Alice in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll by
joon
Advantages: make you think
Disadvantages: make you think
...I should speak about the book if I was following the CIAO rules but I think that speaking about the visual artwork generated by a reading can be more related to the book than a word analysis itself.
For once, I want to speak about my artist work and this book inspired me a long time ago. My review is based on what I felt and what I created at the time.
This was the press release for the exhibition:
------------------------------------------------------
“Alice in Wonderland” was one of Caroline Hilde’s projects when she was a Fine Arts student. At the time, she compared the character of Alice to that of a friend who was involved with drugs. Caroline’s friend, like Alice, was lost in another world. For this exhibition, Caroline decided to re-use her artwork from four years ago, inventing and adding new elements to it.
Is "Alice...
