We have recently moved into a house with a lounge/diner. When we went to view the house the vendor informed us that their dog had recently had puppies, all together now, awwwww. When we went back for our second viewing we picked up on the fact that the carpet was a bit grotty in the lounge. We went away, made an offer and eventually bought the house.
Picking up the keys was really exciting, this was my first house, a real big step in life, we approached the house, with 2 cars loaded with stuff, after we had found the correct key and taken down the for sale sign we entered our new home. What greeted us was the unmistakable smell of dogs p*ss, and general doggy smells, eugh.
After living with the lounge carpet for a couple of weeks the decision was made that we should think about changing it. Money was an issue so we had to wait longer than we originally wanted to, however during the time while we were saving up we visited lots of carpet shops to see what we could afford.
CarpetRight was situated right next to Allied Carpets and as such we were able to directly compare things, we decided to go to CarpetRight as their range appeared much better.
As you walk in the shop you are bombarded with carpet and flooring everywhere you look. There are carpet samples all over the walls, in neat little rectangles, carpet samples in book form dotted around within the first 10 metres of the store, and then there is what we were aiming for, the ‘on a roll’ section. The reason we were looking to buy carpet off a roll was primarily because of cost. Carpets on a roll can cost anything from around £4.99 a metre. The quality is nothing special, but this represents good value for money.
We had visited the shop a number of times and thought we had decided on a carpet we both liked, on Good Friday we beat through the crowds, found a parking space and went to buy our new carpet. On looking around the store we were struck by some new signs, ‘What’s this’ we thought ‘50% off, this can’t be true!’ After ascertaining that CarpetRight did in fact have a massive sale on we decided to have another browse around, on the assumption that we would be able to get better carpet for around the same price. We found one and went to find the man, who had already clocked us looking and already asked if we wanted assistance.
The sales assistant was very helpful; he explained that over the Easter Bank Holiday they were adding another 10% off sale prices. ‘Woo Hoo’ we thought more savings. I specifically asked what the cost for fitting and delivery was, as we had got a cost for these from Allied Carpets who volunteered the information. Our fitting cost was just under £70 and delivery was £20. You pay for the carpet and delivery when you order, and pay for the fitting when the chaps come along with the carpet.
Armed with the figures we went to ponder the prices and see whether we really could afford it (indecisive… moi?). We decided we could, and on Easter Monday we went back to close the deal. We had already decided that we needed underlay (the original was soaked in aforementioned Dog urine) but that we would use the same gripper rods. We plumped for the cheapest underlay at £3.99 a m2 , carpet, at an original price of £13.99 and fitting and delivery.
Our final cost was £302 for the carpet (7.6mx4m) and 70 for the fitting. We gave our credit card details away and went off to the beach for the day happy as larry.
We had been told that our carpet would take about 2 weeks to arrive, this was because it would be the soonest the carpet man could fit it. We received a call from the store in the week before our expected delivery, they said that our fitting had been booked for the Saturday (we had requested this), and we could expect a call from the fitter on Friday night.
Lo and behold, on Friday night a phone call came, it was the fitter arranging a time. He said he would be at our place at 8:30 the following morning. We negotiated that we could leave some of the furniture in the room (the order form asks that you clear all carpet and furniture before the fitter arrives), and said we would see him in the morning.
8:30 came and went, 8:32 the doorbell rang. On time, and smiling, how refreshing!
The fitting went swimmingly and all was going well until… on rolling the carpet towards the end wall we all noticed a gap. Now this is not the fault of CarpetRight, we gave them the measurements for the room and thought we had had them accurate. Obviously not. Fear not the man said, ‘I can cut a bit from the off-cuts and join them together, it’s only under the window, no one will notice.’ So that’s what he did, and no one has!
All in all I had a very good experience of CarpetRight, the staff were very helpful and the fitter was extremely good. I would however recommend that you take them up on their offer of a free measuring service
I thought that we had good value for money as well, and we weren’t on the wrong end of a hard sell for expensive underlay and grippers. The carpet feels nice under the feet and has quite a thick pile (we still don’t walk on it in shoes).
Hurrah for CarpetRight, quick, easy, cheap and they were even cheerful.

Yes, I know bit of a lame title but I cannot think of anything better than that...
The store that I will be reviewing will be our local store based on Sealand Road in Chester. For those of you not familiar with this area it is a small retail park approximately 15 minutes walk from Chester City Centre and contains many of the poular stores such as Currys, Hobbycraft, TK Maxx, Dunelm Mills, Rosebys, DFS etc
After 6 months of redecorating our home ... ...a neutral scheme we decided to go for a fairly substantial carpet having a living room with the stairs leading to upstairs it was going to take a bit of wear and tear.
*~*Why did we choose Carpet Right*~*
My parents had always used our local branch of carpet right when I lived at home and they had always had no complaints and were happy with the service so when I moved into my first house I knew Carpet Right would be the company to opt for. We ...

~ Choice ~
The first thing I noticed when I walked into Carpet Right was the amount of stuff in there. There was endless rolls of carpet, lots of rugs/runners on display and a laminate flooring section so I'd felt straight away that I could find my carpet. (It had to be cream and very soft!) Browzing through the aisles I was impressed by the amount of choice. There was all sorts! Loads of different colours from white to black and different patterns ... ...some old fashioned carpets which I won't describe as I don't want to offend anyone lol. There was a wide range of laminate flooring avaliable too plus lots of rugs. Big ones for the lounge, ones you just stick in front of your door to runners as well.
~ Price ~
Most of the prices in there were quite good. On average we saw lots of carpets priced at 5.99 per square metre. There were a couple of 4.99 ones but I must say these were not as good quality ...

Last week I visited my local Carpet Right Showroom in order to take advantage of a 50% off promotion.
We decided on a carpet to the value of £17, minus the 50% discount, meaning that we pay £8.50 per sq metre. We decided on an underlay at a cost of £8 per sq metre, and middle cost fastenings. We duly arranged for a free estimation visit for next week. The salesperson requested a deposit "..to ensure the discount, as the promo ends this Tuesday", ... ...I placed the paper work in my pocket and thought nothing more of it.
I received a phone call from a relative during the week, who could not believe the quote that they had been given by a Carpet Right estimator. To carpet their front room, hallway, and stairs would amount to £1400! This started to ring warning bells, so I checked my paperwork. The first thing that I noticed was the lack of detail - all I had was an appointment slip and a line stating ...
