CarpetRight doing it Wrong
Advantages Carpets are nice
Disadvantages PRICE of extras
I have just e-mailed CarpetRight asking for a breadown of a quote that I had last week.No reply yet.
Very nice carpet at half price 13.99 down to £7 per sq.mt.The salesman in the shop asked where I lived an started working out the price on a scrap of paper!I asked if he knew the size of my stairs and landing etc. and he said "yes".Anyway I insisted someone come round and measure, which was silly of me as it ended up more money.
This "measurer" said the salesman in showroom shouldn't have done that quote and he was "well out" with the sizes. He asked if I wanted rods and underlay etc.To which I said do quote for with & without. The quote I have is £445 with all the bits, and £312 without.(I do have a big hall & stairs)
I rang the showroom and asked for a breakdown as thought I was being charged full price by mistake.
Here goes: carpet = £157 & fitting = £44,rods were £10 each and I need 6.That leaves £184 for underlay and ???????.At that price maybe the underlay should be on top and called overlay.
The quote for carpet and fitting,NO UNDERLAY,was £268 + £44 fitting !!! What??!!?? The girl said carpet was £157,and would need "a lot of glue" !!Do they think we're all stupid? Went to the shops today to check out prices and found rods were £3 each (not £10) and grippers were too cheap to mention.
A big pack of underlay was £25 for 8 mtrs, and I would have needed 3 of them.
How can these people get away with this? I am still very angry,as I wanted that carpet.Maybe I will look for a carpet fitter and buy all the "extras" myself, just get carpet from shop.
Have just read others ops. about them and glad people noticed they are overcharging. CarpetRight should be ashamed.
We work too hard for our money to GIVE it away to people like these.

The salesperson never mentioned the £20 delivery charge and £25 stair fitting charge that they sneak into the final price ( which goes to the shop not the fitter )
