I have broken my iphone, it was dropped, but no problem i guessed i have carphone warehouse iphone insurance. when they sold it to me the employee said 'its like for like', i asked 'does this mean you just replace a damaged phone', 'oh yes' he said.

Two years later and after £40 pound every three months, i was glad to be in the shop to get my new phone. 'Afarid not how it works' said the gum chewing sales assistant between chews. 'We used to do that...but y'know its changed, we have to send it off for repair, and you get a loan phone' at this point i became quite disappointed with the whole deal. 'but we aint got one...you have to go to another store'

Dutifully i went to another store, but on the way my diapointement turned to anger 'why was i being treated like this?'

In the new store i had no further joy, i got the branch manager who although was not gum chewing did indeed confirm my worse fears. 'you dont get a new one any more, we send it off for repair..... 14 to 28 days' I am mortified, 'is there no other way' i pleaded?

She was kind enough to phone the insurance people and when i spoke i got the feeling there would be no movement on their part. In fact i felt like i was vaguley being accused of trying to get a free phone or upgrade.

So i got a loan phone some derelict nokia, though i still have to pay the premium for the iphone service contract and get none of the functionality. Who knows when my iphone will be returned, customer service at carphone warehouse dont know, or care about it, i was just a irritant in their day i felt.

The moral of this story? If your thinking of buying an iphone, i recommend some form of insurance, but for the love of all things in this world do not go to carphone warehouse, stay away and go somewhere else.
