I had a boyfriend that had a pair of Carreras when we dated. I really liked them so got to wear them all the time. Unfortunately when we split up he took the glasses with him! I had to go out and buy my own pair so I chose a pair from the aviator range and ended up with the Gypsy frame. They are unisex and ultra cool. I would definitely get another pair of Carreras again; they come in a really cool case too.

Price and availability

Carreras are stocked in most sunglasses hut shops and some clothing stores. I bought my pair from Selfridges in Manchester and they cost around £50.00.

Description

The Gypsy frames are part of the aviator collection but you can get them in different colours. The ones I chose where made from metal and were a brushed steel finish. The frames feel really light and the metal was quite soft so they moulded to the shape of my face. The bit over the nose is comfortable too with little rubber cushions that keep the glasses on your nose. The lenses are dark grey with a filter category of 3. They offer 100% protection from UV. It is good that fashion glasses protect you as well as look good. The lenses are thin but they do not look cheap. They are oversized but they do look really good on.

Overall

These glasses protect my eyes from UV rays really well and they do not obstruct my view, I hate over dark glasses as when you go inside you can’t see! I like to be able to see my eyes under the glasses and again this is something that the glasses do. They feel really comfortable and because they are so light, I hardly feel them. The rubber cushions for the nose are really comfortable and they keep the glasses on my nose. It is not good when you have to keep pushing them up the bridge of my nose. The glasses fit comfortably on my ears too, although they do sometimes bend out of shape. If this happens you can just bend them back in, the metal frame is quite pliable. I like the size of the glasses as even if you look out of the corner of your eye, you still get the protection from the lenses. Sometimes glasses make my eyes a bit sweaty, especially on holiday but these allow my eyes to breath which is good.

The glasses come with a cool Carrera case for you to store them in when not in use. This is quite big though so it does take up a bit of room in your handbag. It is black with bumps on it but it is quite big and clumpy. I would rather have the case though than nothing at all!
