Eau de Cartier Concentree - Cartier's addition to its Eau de Cartier launched in 2001 - isn't just simply a concentrated version of Eau de Cartier. :: Introduction ::
Eau de Cartier Concentree - Cartier's addition to its Eau de Cartier launched in 2001 - isn't just simply a concentrated version of Eau de Cartier. Although there are similarities between the two eau de toilettes, different notes are emphasised in their composition which gives an altogether unique feel to both colognes.
:: The packaging ::
The bottle only differs in colour from the original Eau de Cartier the outer box holding it is still white and grey. The clear cylindrical glass has a green tint and nozzle on the top. As there's no cap, the bottle opens by turning the disc underneath the nozzle downwards. To lock the nozzle, turn the disc upwards. This unusual opening mechanism gives a nice elegant touch to the design. No fiddling with or losing the cap, the bottle is elegant and fuss-free.
:: The fragrance ::
Top notes: coriander, violet leaf, lavender
The first impressions of the fragrance are fresh and intense greenness that's floral and vegetal at the same time. A strong violet note is present that adds some warmth to the composition after a few minutes making it similar to Eau de Lalique's starting notes in feel. As the citrus notes are entirely missing here, we get a a more herbal and rounder interpretation of Eau de Cartier, personally I prefer this pronounced greenness to the cleanness of its predecessor.
Middle notes: nutmeg, amber
When the first notes finally settle on the skin an hour later, Eau de Cartier becomes even warmer and rounder though the overall impression is still the same intense, fresh tone as above. For the heart phase, I find Eau de Cartier a perfect combination of fresh herbs and warm spices that compliment each other nicely without one or the other being too dominant.
Base notes: cedarwood, patchouli, musk
The powerful aromatic blend of the heart notes finally give way to the drier, more subtle but just as exotic aromas of powdery and sensual patchouli and earthy cedarwood. The overall feel is a rich yet airy blend with strong, spicy overtones.
:: Conclusion ::
Again, being a unisex fragrance, Eau de Cartier Concentree is not easy to place. If you like scents with an intense herbal greeness that are underpinned by softer, drier and woodier aromas then this cologne might be for you. It's clean, sporty and spicy fresh and has great sillage that doesn't fade even after 6 - 7 hours. It even gives out its best in warm weather. To sum up, a spicy and woody green aromatic cologne from a reputed French luxury house.
