...a picture of the original Cartmel Village Shop where the puddings originate from on the top, the side of the outer packaging teases you with a picture of a sticky toffee pudding shown in all its glory with a fork about to be plunged into it from some unseen person. On each side of the packaging is the slogan' With love from Cartmel Village Shop' which I do feel gives it that personal touch and home made quality.

Whilst visiting the Lake District recently I stumbled across a little gem and a sticky toffee pudding to die for. Just up the road from where we where staying was a small shop selling the most divine sweets and desserts and I just had to try the sticky toffee pudding though totally laden with fat and calories it was a holiday treat.
The pudding comes in various sizes, from individual portions, portions that serve three to four and even a size perfect for all serving six to eight people, as there are 4 of us we option for the middle size also my son cannot abide anything like this so only three of us to eat it all.

Cooking the pudding could not be any easier, you can either microwave an individual portion remembering to remove your portion from the foil container otherwise you will end up with an exploding microwave or heated in the oven in the foil container the pudding is sold in. Microwave - 4 minutes for those who cannot wait or oven for 15 to 20 minutes if you want to savour the aroma of this pudding cooking away whilst you eat your main meal. I prefer the oven method as so easy to pop into the oven just as you sit down and ready just as you finish.
The taste, well being a lover of sticky toffee pudding anyway I thought I knew what was about to hit my taste buds, how wrong was I, this pudding has to be the most melt in you mouth sponge and the most divine tasting sticky toffee sauce I have ever come across, food heaven does not come close to what this tastes like. The sponge is incredibly light and fluffy and this combined was a really sticky sauce that has partially seeped into the sponge during cooking will have your taste buds set alight. We where really naughty and tried it with fresh cream also which is incredible and the coldness of the cream sets a bit of the toffee sauce slightly so that you have some crunchy chewy bits in your bowl adding to the delight of this dessert.
We purchased our puddings (yes we went back for more) at the shop attached to the main bakery in Flookburgh on Moor Lane (or mile road as its known locally) easy to find, turn left at the village square go about one third of a mile down the road and the shop is on your right had side.
However, do not despair if you do not live in the area or cannot find a local outlet that stocks this as you can buy your puddings on-line and have your puddings delivered direct to your door with prices starting at £7.95 for the size that serves 3 to 4 people and this does include the postage to no hidden extras here. www.stickytoffeepudding.co.uk if you are interested in the sticky toffee pudding or there other puddings, sticky chocolate, sticky ginger or sticky banana. There are also gift packs available to. You can also call them up to find out whether there is a stockist in your area, full contact details can be found on the web site.
Will I purchase again, oh yes without a doubt and just to be sure or that as they make an ideal dessert for a dinner party and most certainly will be a talking point due to the exquisite taste.
