Have you ever felt the need to have a cooked Sunday Roast in the middle of the week at about 3 'O'clock when you can't be bothered to cook it anyway? Well not having a butler at hand to cook it for me i thought i'd settle for a portion of Fish and Chips instead.
As i walked near the local Chip Shop i was enticed by a smell that i can only describe as "My Granny's Cooking". I let my nose take over and it led me to a pub grub shop called The Carvery Fayre. With the smell of Roast Beef, Chicken, Pork and Lamb calling to me i decided to have a look at the menu.
To my surprise i had found the A-Z of the most tempting dishes i had ever thought possible. The menu itself comprised of everything from Soups and Pasta to Burgers, Chips and Curry. Not leaving out the freshly cooked choice of Meats and steamed Vegetables. The shop doe's also offer Vegetarian alternatives such as Vegetable Lasagne etc and they also cater for people who have nut allergies.
"You get all the benefits of having a home cooked meal, except you don't have to wait hours for it to cook".
After browsing through the menu i opted for a Roast dinner which comprised of:- Roast Beef Roast Potatoes Mixed Veg (Carrots,Cauliflower,Broccoli and Peas) Sage and Onion Stuffing and Yorkshire Pudding, all finished off with a thick Gravy drizzled all over it. You can eat inside the shop if you wish but there is very limited seating space available. (2 Tables) I decided to take it away and couldn't wait to get home so i could tuck in.
But.... Whats this? Just as i was about to leave my eyes fixed on the Dessert Menu. This was it, i thought i had died and gone to Heaven. There was a vast array of Desserts to choose from:- Apple Tart or Crumble Cheesecake (the home made kind and not those stupid little things you get in a small pot). Rice pudding and many others. All of which made my mouth water like a burst water main. As you can probably imagine i didn't leave the Shop without ordering a large slice of Apple Tart sat in a river full of hot creamy Custard. The whole meal set be back £5.00p which i found to be pretty reasonable considering i would have had to spend a lot more than this on all of the ingredients if i were to cook the same meal myself.
With my bag full of hot scrumptious food i made my way home as fast as my legs could carry me. Trying desperately not to spill any of the Gravy or Custard from my meals which were neatly tucked away in a Polysyrene type box. I franticklty wrestled with my key in the lock of the front door and ran through to the kitchen where i transferred my food to appropriate dishes. Knife and Fork in hand i cut into the tender slices of Roast Beef and proceeded to stuff my face. Ahhh i almost slipped into a coma after the first mouthful, it must have been the quickest meal i had ever devoured in my life. Every Fork full found it's way into my mouth and down into my stomach, which at this point seemed like a bottomless pit. This meal should have been enough for two people but i had soon necked the lot all to myself.
After mopping up the last of the Gravy with a slice of Bread and Butter i turned to my Apple Tart and Custard. I didn't eat it striaght away, i took a good look at it for a couple of moments before i shovelled spoonfuls of the sweet and creamy food of the gods into my deprived mouth. My taste buds almost exploded as the first mouthful passed over them. I can remember wuishing that i wouldn't ever see the bottom of the bowl, but as you can imagine i made quick work of finishing it off.
I had never in my life tasted such a good Take-Away and i could have eaten it all over again. If it wasn't for the fact that i was trying to look after my slim figure, i would have gone back for second helpings.
The Carvery Fayre also has a loyalty bonus card scheme and everytime you order a meal you can get it stamped. A fully stamped card is worth a free meal so i can't wait for the day i get to claim mine. I found the Carvery Fayre to be very clean and hygienic and the staff were always cheerful and eager to please. There are no steps into the shop and it has a very large doorway so it is easily accessible to Wheelchair users.
If you ever see one of these shops DO NOT walk straight past. You have no idea what you would be missing out on. I would highly recommemnd it's products to anyone.
Thank You for taking the time to read this op. Take care ROB xXx
