Advantages: Revolutionary lens, size, screenfinder Disadvantages: More of a novelty
...a novelty stage, being small. I can only assume Casio will work on research and bring out more features within the same frame, but until then, I would recommend it, but not for high end value for money.
As soon as this came out, my friend (who shall remain nameless for reasons of integrity...according to him) was swept away by a whim of delight and broke his bank account to get one of these.
We both eagerly anticipated its arrival, hearing of the hype.."first camera to use a ceramic lens".., and on its arrival, this is what we found:
Certainly the worlds smallest right here. So small in fact, upon opening, it was really quite a shock to see the little thing in the packaging.
First things first. After unpacking and taking a brief 'scan' of the huge manual, we decided, why not, lets jump in and experiment. So within a few minutes, it was ready to go.
Quality (3.2MGP): After taking a couple of portrait shots and viewing them back on the 2 inch screen (which was astoundingly clear), we then took the added liberty of photographing moving cars to test shutter speed. This was pretty damn good and the cars, although moving fairly fast, were still clear and defined. A good start.
Design. A nice metal finish THROUGHOUT the product, and I mean throughout, everything was in stainless steel, right down to the screws, for a heavy, but quality inducing appearance. The camera lens, as always appeared to jut out (almost a trademark with casio), and so this was nothing to worry about.
Features: Packed with an array of features, the S100 has some rather bizarre ones at that:
Business Shot function:: Apparently compensates for photos which you mistakenly (or otherwise) take at an angle and captures as if taken straight ahead...
As well as the usual USB support, and another added slideshow function which can be used while the camera sits in its dock. Movie clips CAN be played, however quality is not on par with other advanced digital cameras, and so its not advisable to buy solely for this feature either...although the sound quality is good.
At around £350, the S100 is an excellent camera, with good, powerful features. However, it is not as powerful as some of the high end products around the same price, and is still almost a novelty stage, being small. I can only assume Casio will work on research and bring out more features within the same frame, but until then, I would recommend it, but not for high end value for money.
Advantages: small, easy to use, fits easily into a jeans pocket or small handbag Disadvantages: no viewfinder, sun can glare off the screen
I am not a digital camera expert, and i do not claim to be one. I simply needed a camera to take pictures with for the family album. This camera lets you do that with its stylish looks and slimline figure. If looks are everything then go for this camera, otherwise, if its features then go with this camera anyway....
This camera is of a 3.2 megapixel type. You probably have looked and found cameras that are about 6 megapixel now. If, like me you ... ...a small elephant then the pixels score is more than enough.
The pictures are of a decent quality and with a 512 MB card installed you can store about 550ish pictures of the best quality and 1600*1200 pixels (5 by 7 inch).
One of the great features is that the camera simply switches on quickly so that you can take quick pictures.
The only downside is that the camera does not have a viewfinder which when outside means that it is sometimes difficult ...

Advantages: Responsive, light, elegant, small, pocket-sized Disadvantages: no case, no view-finder, doesnt inculde a memory card
This is a camera suitable for any occasion due to its size, weight and design. It has an automated flash that operates when needed and is very responsive. Photos are of a high quality and due to high repsonsiveness action photos (0.01 shutter release lag) can quite easily often be taken. The large screen (2" LCD) is very useful, though some people may miss the viewfinder. The danger of scratching appears quite high but although the camera doesnt ... ...from retailers. The software that comes with the camera allows access to a very good printing website that has many editing functions. This camera is very pleasing to look at with a very pleasant design. I would definately recommend it to anyone looking at a camera in the £200 price range, it is one of the best for its price. Those looking at lower priced cameras may also be tempted to look at this as it is worth the extra cash. The camera is half ...

Advantages: Looks really nice and fits almost anywhere Disadvantages: Short batter life and long wait for flash.
Although this camera can take pictures super fast. Some conditions apply. If you want to take pictures with flash you have to wait about 15 seconds to take another picture. And if you change to some modes the .5 second wait to take another one increases. The picture quality is really good compaired and you do get oooos and awwwws on the design of the camera. The Docking station is also really good there are no cords to fumbe around with and your ... ...be transfered with out the dock having ot be plugged in and how the camera can charge without the usb having to be plugged in. The charge time is pretty fast. I would say about 3 hours from dead dead dead. And then it last for about 200 pictures. On the best quality of picture they never get more than 2 megabites. And with usb 2.0 there isnt a long wait to get your pictures where you want them. There are alot of features on this camera too, you can ...

Advantages: Slim, quality pictures, easy to use Disadvantages: None what so ever
...easier to capture desired scenes, Casio has again proven that it is the leader in ultra-compact cameras that offer astonishingly advanced performance.
Over all I think this camera is fantastic it is so slim and small it is the size of a credit card. I bought this from ASDA a month ago for £120 which came with a free 64MB. I thought this was a really good deal and value for money. Would recommend to anyone that is wanting to buy a digital camera. ...

Manufacturer's product description
How fast is really fast? The EXILIM Card EX-S100 has a shutter speed of 0.01 second after successful focusing. Which means there is little that is fast enough to escape you!Changing between the normal focus and the macro range is really fast - with the Auto Macro function. The macro region, i.e. the close-up region of the EX-S100, comprises distances between 17cm and 50cm. Before each photo, the camera measures the distance to the motif and automatically sets the right focal range. Every picture is thus crystal-clear, even close up to important details. With the development of the world's first ceramic lens CASIO makes digital photography more compact than ever before. The special advantages of the ceramic material: high stability, high coefficient of refraction and the property that it can be manufactured and installed in a size much smaller than that of glass. Only in this way, for example, is it possible to integrate a 2.8x Zoom in the extremely flat EXILIM Card EX-S100.BESTSHOT functions are practically pre-settings for different motifs and lighting conditions. The EXILIM Card EX-S100 offers 23 BESTSHOT modes. You can also create, store and call up your own modes with BESTSHOT at any time. New: 2 integrated Business Shot programs for distortion-free reproduction of business cards and projection charts. For flash photos, the background often remains too dark and the motif is not fully illuminated. The solution: Flash Assist. With this function, the brightness of the motif is automatically enhanced.
