I have had this brilliant little camera for almost a year, I carry it virtually everyday and as a consequence have been lucky enough to capture many of those "if only we had a camera moments". For which a few people are less than thankful. It will fit in a cigarette packet in case you forget the dust cover I have used it in Canada for a couple of months on an adventure packed stay even at 8000 feet up at minus 40 in light snow whist snow mobiling, its great for video as well, picture and sound clarity was better than a couple of video recorders on the same trip. It has been rain soaked twice and has had a pint spilled over it -sticky but cleaned up OK, still working as new. Its been dropped a few times as well, luckily not even a scratch! I bought this from cameras2u.co.uk where I repeatedly have good service unbeatable prices and peace of mind. They had the best deal I could find in Europe the week I bought it. The camera comes with a neat little docking station which connects via USB to my computer and downloads the contents in seconds with ease. I hardly ever give techy details in these reviews as more often than not they don't interest me. I buy products I like the look of or that fit a specific requirement, how they do it I really don't care, just so long as they do what they say on the tin, and this camera does just that. I bought this model as it was the smallest available, as I was travelling as light as possible everything I carried to Canada had to be essential, compact and light this fitted the bill 100% and on a now daily basis the camera gets used and is the best all rounder I have owned and I have had a few. The orange version is even cheaper that the more popular silver and the pale metallic blue (my choice) is priced in between. Its easy to use, I have not even looked at the manual, I know it will do more than I have discovered but I am happy with what I use it for so the rest is surplus to requirements! Several members of my family and a few friends have bought the same model on seeing mine. They are infectious and great value for money. Totally recommended.
If you feel that you would liked to have had more "in depth" review please don't write to me to tell me, as I just tell it like I see it. Surely if your researching this product you can find pixels, depth of field and resolution info elsewhere? They just don't figure on my preferences list However if you think I can answer a question you have, please do not hesitate.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
(+) Ultra-compact dimensions, fun automatic tools, good performance for the asking price (-) Cluttered menu layout, camera buttons are scarce, specs are almost identical to the Samsung ES15
None-technical coments based on your experience that might be useful include how quickly it starts up and whether there's any "shutter-lag" frompressing the shutter button to it taking a photo. I've had digital cameras in the past wher you completely miss the moment because of the two combined delays. Battery life and recharge times are good to know - especially if you've been using it at -40deg when most batteries would flake out. Sam.
Advantages: Great pictures, slim line design, easy to use menu system, excellent battery Disadvantages: Recharging becomes a pain with docking station, optical lens can brake in pocket
