I bought the camera in summer 2006 on the recommendation of a shop assistant, and I have been very pleased with the purchase. Compact, stylish yet retaining quality in picture taking, the S600 has to be up there with the best compact cameras around. For those who want a camera to easily take to parties, this does the trick. Being a university student I am constantly taking pictures of nights out, and it is very easy to simply slip the camera into my pocket, even in a protective case. However, before you think that, because it is compact, this camera is only for party usage, I also took this camera with me to the Lake District in September, and up the 10 highest mountains in England without any kind of problems, and got some incredible photos out of it along the way. The BESTSHOT features also come in useful, both for novelty value, because everyone likes some fun features to play about with, turning your friends sepia and all that, but also for certain situations where the lack of manual settings may have caused a problem. For instance I took some very good photos with the firework setting on the 5th November last year. Overall, the camera performs very well in all aspects of photography, of course never reaching the standards of more advanced cameras, but for an ultra-compact, I was very surprised with the results. It has become almost an attachment to my side because of its slim size and great picture results. I would recommend this camera to anyone considering buying it.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
(+) Ultra-compact dimensions, fun automatic tools, good performance for the asking price (-) Cluttered menu layout, camera buttons are scarce, specs are almost identical to the Samsung ES15
Sorry for the low rating, but I think that your Review needs a lot more information and detail to justify a higher rating. Don’t worry about the low rating most people get low ratings at first, its’ just a case of getting to know what to include. It helps if you write every Review as if you’re writing for someone who has virtually no knowledge of what you’re reviewing, in clear non technical language. You might find it helpful if you read and rate some other peoples’ reviews (especially those that have been rated VH or E). It might give you an idea of the sort of things you need to include. If I can be of any help or if you decide to add to or edit your review feel free to put a note in my gb, I’ll be happy to re-read and re-rate. Rich
