I upgraded to the Casio in June this year from an Olympus 8 megapixelmju, on the recommendation of a friend. He had the model before this and wanted to buy the latest one for his financee before they went on holiday.
Requirements - compact, good battery life, reliable, complicated when you need it to be, but an excellent 'point and shoot' when you don't have the time to adjust the settings before you miss the shot.
The Casio delivers on all points, and then some. The battery life is superb, every time I came to charge the battery (days later) I couldn't remember the last time I'd had to charge it. Reliable - no problems so far. Complicated - numerous settings to meet the requirements of most general purpose users, but simple enough that I can understand it. There's a Best Shot feature, point and shoot for 90% of your requirements - and fast too! It takes no time at all to power up, and the menus are easy to navigate. The picture mode has a button all of it's own, for easy location in the most pressured circumstances.
Video recording is excellent too, incorporating sound. Both video and stills can be edited while still on the camera.
In summary a first class tool for your general purpose photography needs.
