I'm afraid to say there aren't many positive things I can say about this camera and I wish I'd never bought it. The nicest thing about it though is the design, which is one of the first things that attracted me to it. It's very slim and stylish and small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. It looks like it should be a good camera, but the descriptions, images and reviews of it are very deceiving.
Considering the high price of this camera, the picture quality is awful. My camera phone, which is 2MP, is capable of taking better photographs than this camera. There is no point in macro being on this camera, because you have to be so far away from the object before it focuses that it isn't even considered a macro shot anymore. The photos rarely come out sharp and I've never taken a photo I've liked on this camera. I know it's not supposed to be an SLR or a top of the range digital camera, but there are far cheaper cameras that'd take better acceptable pictures than this. Almost every person that has been in a photo taken by this camera has commented that the camera makes you look rough and a lot worse than if you looked in a mirror. This is not an exaggeration or people just being vain or paranoid - this camera honestly doesn't do anyone justice. I took the same photo 3 times, one with this camera, one with my camera phone (S500i) and one with Sony CybershotDSC-T30. The DSC-T30 isn't much more expensive than this camera, but has amazing picture quality and sometimes the photos get mistaken to that taken with an SLR. The picture I took was of a friend and in the DSC-T30 picture, the image was sharp, realistic colours and was a generally nice pretty picture. On the camera phone it was still decent but obviously not of the same quality. On the EX-S700, the image was slightly out of focus even though I had all the right settings on and took it with a steady hand and it made my friend look stupidly shiny, which there was no way she looked like that in person. This camera seems to like to make everyone look like they've been polished and rough, which I doubt anyone wants to have in their family album, especially when they don't even look like that in the first place.
The camera turns on too easily - never put this camera in your pocket. When the camera turns on, the lens comes out, which in a pocket... well, not good news. The amount of times I've heard a nasty crunch and thought the lens has crushed into pieces, but luckily it hasn't (yet). I don't put it in my pocket anymore, or in a special camera case for that matter, cause I don't even use it. I can't sell it either cause it had only been used for a month or so by the previous owner and I'd only had it for a month or so myself and it decides to revert to Portuguese every time you turn it on. Going through the settings every time is pretty annoying.
The screen on the camera is also bad and has really high light contrast and bright red tinted colours. Nothing like the photos look on the computer.
I don't recommend this camera to anyone. I'd understand if this camera was under £100, but the fact it's priced so ridiculously highly for how bad it is, I don't understand. You can find plenty of other cameras for the same price that are so much better.
