Advantages: Natural Display, cheap Disadvantages: Takes a few minutes to get used to.
This calculator, from a students point of view is perfrect. A calculator can't do much more than this without infringing on the exams boards banned calculator list. It is the newer, updated version of the FX 83MS (also a good calculator).
The natural display function of the calculator is the best of the additions from the 83MS and is extreamly useful as it gives exact answers wherever possible. It took a couple of times using it to get used to switching from the natural display back to the normal display for when decimal places are needed, but this is not hard to pick up.
This calculator is ideal from Key Stage 3 all the way to A2 level of maths and would also be fine for every day use. It has a protective case for when it is not in use and an extensive manual explaining the different functions of the calculator.
Strong, nice ...
Advantages: The new casio natural display and solar power Disadvantages: I'll explain in the review
Ok the CasioFX 85 ES is simply put the best calculator available on the market that can be used in exams. Casio have recently been working with the Joint Examination board to ensure it's new "student" calculators do not break the rules-so no worries there students!

Basically it allows you to type on the screen as if you were writing it in your book, for example squares roots are real on there and you can do fractions properly. I find it incredibly easy to use and it has gained me an A so far in my A-levels (i'm not that clever honest).
Personally i wouldn't read the instructions-merely use them for reference and work everything out on your own-it's easy enough.
The calculator boasts all the normal functions including memory storage, radians degrees and gradians functions ...

will be some useful functions on these type of calculators (like solving quadratic equation and drawing out graph transformations etc.) that you cannot do on the Casiofx-83EX. But even now, at university, i still keep this calculator as it is so easy to use and has useful functions that you sometimes don't even get on the very expensive calculators!
I would definitely recommend this product!
Another last note is to say that to be honest, you don't even need to bother with the instruction manual as it is so simple to use and it is a commonly used calculator in schools so the teachers are bound to know how to do everything! ...
