Ok the Casio FX 85 ES is simply put the best calculator available on the market that can be used in exams. Casio have recently been working with the Joint Examination board to ensure it's new "student" calculators do not break the rules-so no worries there students! So this natural display-what is it? Basically it allows you to type on the screen as if you were writing it in your book, for example squares roots are real on there and you can do fractions properly. I find it incredibly easy to use and it has gained me an A so far in my A-levels (i'm not that clever honest). Personally i wouldn't read the instructions-merely use them for reference and work everything out on your own-it's easy enough. The calculator boasts all the normal functions including memory storage, radians degrees and gradians functions, logarithms and natural logs and of course all the trig stuff so it is more than the average student needs (note no differentiation/integration function because it's not allowed for exams!!!). The solar power is also a good feature so it won't die on you in an exam (it has a battery back up). The look is amazingly good for a calculator too-I know my friends have been jealous-yes JEALOUS of my calculator which I find rather strange but there you go. I've only found one problem so far and that is the replay button gets a bit sticky (it could b just mine and it broke) but it's still usable and i love the replay function anyway-it is a neccessity for me now-along with the Ans function. Overall this is an amazing calculator-oh i almost forgot it also allows you to do a log to any base-how cool is that? It doesn't cost much at £11 and casio always have good consumer support (ring the hotline people!) I would definitely recommend this to any GCSE or A-level student.
