So far we have not used all of the functions so I will just tell you about the ones I know
~Run~ This is like a standard scientific calculator, with it being possible to do both simple calculation and by pressing optn some more complex ones. This mode is probably one of the ones I have used the most on here. It is possible to store numbers on here for future refence as a letter. This is particularly helpful when a decimal number is required further on in the calculation. Also, by pressing shift F6, you can switch between to the graph mode, making it easy to view a graph while working out calculations. All button on the calculator are laid out well and are clearly labelled.
~Stat~ This mode is mainly used for statistical calculations involving probability. The first screen shows a with 6 columns and as many rows as it neccessary. The good thing about having 6 rows is that you can have different calculations at the same time without having to delete one. Once the data is inputted into the table, calcullations can be made to find lots of things automatically such as the mean, standard deviation and the range. By pressing the dist button, it is possible to work out normal, binomial and chi squared distribution easily.
~Graph~ This is probably the most useful function, allowing you to input an equation to draw the graph. The graph does not appear automatically, instead appearing as if being drawn, something that amused me and my friends for quite a while. The trace button allows you to find out where a particular point lies on the graph. There is quite a lot of memory on this calculator allowing up to 20 graphs to be drawn simultaneouly.
~Equa~ The equation funtion is another useful one which allows you to input an algebraic equation in and it gives you the solutions. I found the solver function hard to use at first, not realising it was neccessary to press execute multiple times. It also solves simultaneous equations without the long calculations.
~Prog~ I don't know much about the programme mode however I have seen other people use this to create games. So far I've seen a simple version of snake and ping for two people. I would love to learn how to programme my calculator like this but I just don't have the computor knowledge!
~Mem~ Last one I'll discuss is memory. This is basically where you need to go to reset the calcuator. Doing so will delete all stored data and reset the functions to default. This is quite useful if I think I've messed it up some way or a friend ha just pressed all the buttons in a vain attempt to draw his name.
This calculator has got quite a good battery life, with my friends lasting her more than a year. I changed mine in paranoia before an exam but i'm sure they would have lasted as long. Unfortunatly, the calculator is not solar powered and does not take kindly to rechargeable batteries, lasting about a week with them fully charged. It is quite robust as has not broken even after quite a few accidental dropping. Although the calculator is bulky, it is actually surprisingly light (unless I've just got used to its weight) and the screen is a good size. The batteries are easy to put in with the battery cover being easy to remove, but not so easy that it falls off.
It has 32B of memory, which doesn't mean much to me but it seems like a lot and I've not had an out of memory message yet.
I bought this calculator for £30 through the college however it is alot more expensive on amazon (£48.90 at the moment)/
Overall I would definately recommend this calculator for anyone taking maths or stats past GCSE as i have found it invaluable so far and I'm sure I will in the future. Although it is quite expensive it is worth the money, simply for the amount of things possible.
Advantages: Very good quality graphic calculator Disadvantages: Speed of 'graph' calculations and lots needed to learn to use it
The Casio fx-9750G is the calculator I now use at college. It seems to be the standard calculator to use now at AS and A level, as I know other sixth forms other than my college who now solely sell these to their students. The look and layout : -
The Casio fx-9750G is a quite chunky calculator with dimesnsion of 178mm x 89mm x 21mm, as one might expect of a graphic calculator, but it is not unnattractive to the eye. It comes in an assortment of ... ...Manual : - The Casio comes with an incredibly thick manual which is in my opinion simply impossible to read through and let's face it quite depressing. However, it is well layed out, so it is easy to find and learn about a particular partof the calculator you want help with. I'm not sure how good the customer support is as I have never had a problem with my calculator but as Casio is a very well known brand I would expect it at least to be reasonable.

Advantages: Lots of exciting mathsy things to do, cuts the work for your brain Disadvantages: Quite hard to grasp - esp complicated things
I was loaned the fx-9750G by my school whilst doing my A-Level maths course. It seemed most unfair, as only those doing double maths were allowed one of these beauties. However, I soon realised the reason for this. It takes a super-brain of Further-Maths-A-Level proportions to actually figure out how to work the thing.
For starters, there seemed to be about three or four buttons explaining what seemed to be, on a linguistic synonymic level, 'BACK', ... ...I just often hit the off button then started again from scratch. Thank goodness for it's memory!
However, with time, I have slowly become acquainted with this 80s-styled beast, and I am the first to admit that the fx-9750G was playing hard-to-get at first ; it's now well worth getting to know it for the rewards.
Short of writing the answers to your maths paper, there is nothing this machine cannot do. Solving matrices, finding asymptotes of graphs, ...

If your doing A-Level Statistics or Mathematics, this calculator is a must have. I used it for Statistics and it came in extreamly useful. Particularily, it works out Binomial, Normal and Poisson Distributions for you. Also the table function is quite handy, meaning if you need to work out several distributions, this calculator can do it for you. The calculator is also very robust and durable. I have dropped it seferal times and the worst case scenario ... ...the calculator is also very good. Ive been using mine for a year and a half and i havent had to take them out. The calculator takes 4 triple A batteries. Theres really nothing to complain about. It does exactly what it says on the tin. A possible annoyance with the calculator is that it is quite fiddely. It can take you a bit of time to find the functions you want. However, apart from that its brilliant! 5/5 Oh and the instructions manual is HUGE! ...

Advantages: Large number of functions, programming, equation solver Disadvantages: Looks
While this calculator may not exactly resemble the apple iPhone from an aesthetics point of view, it is an extremely functional device.
This calculator handles everything needed for A Level Further Maths, with built in matrices, complex numbers and calculus functions. I particularly found the table function useful, which lets you apply a function to a long list of values very quickly, saving on time when plotting graphs. It even has an equation ... ...a bit of time getting used to, the interface soon becomes intuitive.
Also useful for advanced maths is the powerful programming function, which lets you write anything from projectile calculations to simple games. Its communication port lets you share these with other users, and it's even possible to build your own cable from simple maplins parts. ...

Advantages: Thoroughly useful if you are studying maths! Disadvantages: It is a little pricey.
The Casiofx-9750GII is one of the newest releases in the graphical calculator range from casio, as you would expect from such a large brand its almost faultless!
The calculator comes standard with a 3 year warrantee which is helpful considering the price!
The calculator comes with 64kb RAM and also has a USB port so you can connect it to your computer.
If you havent used a Graphical calculator before and you work with more complex maths regularly i would definatly suggest investing in one, and this is a top of the range model. As with most standard scientific calculators it can convert from fractions to decimals, calculate simple and complex multiplications divisions etc..
but as this is graphical it can do just that little bit more, it also has a very clear icon menu.
The Icon menu clearly shows each available main function ...
