This is the Casio FX 83MS Scientific Calculator, for typical use at high school level. This is what you need to keep up in maths at school at GCSE level and beyond. The extra functions of a scientific calculator are necessary for this level of work and are still useful even if you just want to use a calculator simply.
Anyway, that applies for any scientific calculator, now what about this one? This is a Casio which is a good sign straight off. Casio is one of the leading brands in the scientific calculator market keeping one step ahead of the rest at all times. Now the recent 'natural display' releases from leading firms are a definite improvement on these originals as they show fractions in the form they are written amongst other things but this is still good enough. Working in the motor trade, there are many tools that you need, a telephone, a computer and a good calculator! Mostly I put it down to my age, but a lot of the calculators on the market call for the user to have a PHD in physics!
I for one when using a calculator look for ease of use. I'm not the type of guy who needs a computer to tell me what the time is in New York or the exchange rate in Zambia! The point I am trying to make is that, for the job I do (Parts Manager at a franchised car dealership); I need little more than a calculator to add, subtract, divide and multiply.
The CasioMS-8V does the job rather well, and that's good enough for me. I don't want to belittle my job as it can get a bit stressful at times, so the ease of use of the calculator makes MY job easier.

Advantages: Integration and Differentiaiton features Disadvantages: None that stand out
This is a great calculator and is a real step up from the casio fx-83 MS which is the calculator I had previously. It has all the features of the typical scientific calculator and all the keys are in the same place as the fx-83 and the other casios. However, to make this calculator stand out from the rest is the fact that it can solve quadratic equations adn also differentiate and integrate. If you have ever had problems integrating etc. or you want to check you answers to integration/differentiation in the exam, then this calculator will find the solutions for you. At first, it isquite difficult to find the solutions quickly, although once you know how to use the functions, you'll be able to differentiate and integrate in seconds.
