Advantages: Easily carried in a coat pocket and has all the features most of us will r need Disadvantages: Lcd screen not easy to see in bright light. Menu system takes a bit of getting used to.
The Casio QV8000SX is everything I ever wanted from a camera! For many years, I used an Olympus OM2n SLR camera with which you could do just about anything and everything, provided you were willing to tote around a big and heavy bagful of accessories. With digital cameras now reaching an advanced stage in their development, I decided it was time I "went digital" and spent several weeks surfing the net and investigating the pro's and cons of every ... ...with the results from the Casio which also includes macro and maximum zoom shots.
It uses Compact Flash removable memory cards and has three quality settings, on the finest setting an 8mb card will hold up to 39 images, on the normal setting up to 48 images and on economy setting 63. A spare 8mb card can be purchased for around £30 and as they are smaller than a book of matches, are easily stored in the pocket thoughtfully provided in the case supplied ...

Advantages: LCD Screen, Moveable view finder, and zoom Disadvantages: Battery life
When you first use the Casio QV-8000 you think 'wow, what a great camera'. But when you actually start to use it, you get carried away with the LCD screen, good as it is, it eats batteries like you wouldn't beleive, and with no alternative, you must use re-chargeable batteries. With an 8x zoom, USB, and a 8MB compact flash card, it's really great. The menu is easy to use, and all the on-screen features are useful.
On some recent occasions, heres ... ...great detail on statues, and was brilliant with the way it zoomed quickly.
--Production: Not so good, as the flash wasn't being much help. This made the LCD screen virtually useless, and with the camera being on for a total of 15 minutes, the batteries were dead. This meant missing the 2nd half of Bugsy Malone.
However, when the camera was dropped some time ago, the battery door broke, and is now held on with Gaffa tape.
In conclusion this is ...

Advantages: complete variety Disadvantages: uses a lot of energy
I have owned the camera since October 1999 and then spent ca. DM 1400.- . I have since updated the camera with a 48MB memory card ( starts at around £ 100 ). I can now take about 100 pictures with the highest possible quality.
This really is a camera for people who like to experiment. Out of the non-professional cameras this one has the largest zoom, which is similar to a 35mm’s 40 to 320mm range. The exposure times are between 1/200 to 64 (!) seconds. ... ...many pictures at night, particularly of the stars.
If you are not totally daft, you will find the 8000SX easy to use, most of it will be intuitive anyway. This was a bit of a surprise for me at first, given the many functions. It also has a continuous mode function and can shoot sequences of up to about 10 secs. These sequences can later be turned into avi-files on your PC.
The transmission software is very good, too. It creates a complete HTML/Java ...

Features like USB, CompactFlash and threaded lens (for microscope, telescope and other adapters) emphasize the camera's versatility. With the uses of Photo Loader, the QV-8000SX automatically transfers images from the camera or from a CompactFlash reader (optional) to your PC by USB. An HTML file is used to speed up image search. A quick shutter mode has the camera ready to capture an additional image in one second. Stored images can be scrolled at 2 per second for quick review. The included multi-function wired remote control unit helps eliminate camera shake and provides easy scrolling of captured images during playback.
When I’m not hanging out on street corners and harassing old couples, or doing any of those other things that teenagers like myself inevitably do, I can often be found hiring myself out as an amateur wedding photographer. Exchanging my hoody and bandana... more
I am very impressed by the Casio Exilim, particularly with regards to the battery life. It is much better than using regular batteries that don't last long at all, and it charges quickly anyway.

This camera is small and slim so it's very portable and It has 7.2 megapixels and 3x Optical zoom so it's quite a nice point and shoot camera. And it comes in the colours blue, silver, pink, red and black.but i've found that the quality of the images... more
I bought this camera for £79 at Comet, and no wonder why they advertise it on their front page. I was a little worried at first as the price was well below the average for any entry level digital camera, but I was wrong for worrying. I purchased this... more
You'll have to forgive me father for I have sinned. I cannot stop giggling every time I look at the Casio Exilim EX-V7 I've had for 2 weeks. I look at it and think about the gas powered calculator I had at school that needed four heavily set blokes to... more
