Advantages: Small, loads of features, easy to use, robust Disadvantages: Expensive, no case
I got this camera about a year and a half ago, and it hasn't decreased in price since then.
On the outside, it's a very smart-looking piece of equipment - I loved the fact that felt heavy and robust - the shell is completely made from metal, whereas many other digital cameras I saw felt plasticy and tacky. It's also a very good size - small enough by far to slip into a coat pocket or handbag.
The zoom lens is adequate for most ... ...for longer shots. With this camera, you are able to manually set it up to take more professional artsy shots, but since I'm not a serious photographer (and don't have a clue) I've never really played around with this much.
All the normal features are present on the QVR-3, including self-timer, movie recording (no sound), clock/calendar and LCD screen.
There is an internal memory of 11MB, and a slot for SD/ cards. more

The zoom lens is adequate for most pictures at 3x optical, 3x digital; but it is insufficient for longer shots. The battery is a very small, thin lithium ion battery (charger included), which I like because it adds very litle extra weight to the camera.
Another redeeming feature of this camera is the "best shot" function (abbreviated as "BS"), which allows complete novices like to use ready-programmed selections tailored to the shot they are about to take. I've had lots of success with this - I visited a butterfly palce a while ago, and used the "close up floral" selection to take pictures of the butterflies there, and it worked really well. Almost all of my pictures have come out beautifully, with a good, sharp image quality.
All in all, I think this is an excellent little camera, if a little expensive for a 3 megapixel one. The only thing I would change is the zoom (a bit more optical zoom would be great).
I have also found it quite hard to find a suitable case for it and am currently using the little felt bag from my minidisc player to protect it.
Advantages: Compact, well built, good quality pictures, reasonable price Disadvantages: Low optical zoom, quite big compared to new cameras on market
I bought this as my first digital camera and have been very happy with my purchase. It's small enough to take out wherever I go but feels as though it is well built. I've droped it a few times and it still works fine. It produces good quality photo's in most situations. It does struggle with action shots as there is quite a delay between pushing the shutter and it taking a picture. Also it doesn't take quality photo's when the light levels are low. ... ...situations the quality is good. In some ways it's an advantage that the number of megapixels is low as it means you can get more photo's on a memory card. The main disadvantage of this camera is the low optical zoom. If you use the digital zoom the results are very variable, sometimes you get a good picture and sometimes you don't. ...

Advantages: Looks good, Feels good, Is good Disadvantages: Nothing major
without the recommended SD memory card (the usual storage disk).
The quick response time of the camera (an impressive 0.01 seconds) between pressing the picture taking button and it producing the image reduces the chances of blurring your photos to an absolute minimum. The LCD screen is 1.6" in size which allows plenty of viewing area before choosing when best to take your photos.
The flatness of the camera is further enhances by it's ability to retract the entire lens past the surface so the frontage has no 'sticky-outy-bits'. It is trimmer overall than the CasioQV-R4, which is the 3 mega pixel (3 million pixels) version, whereas this is the 4 mega pixel (4 million pixels) model.
The image sizes are as follows:

1600 x 1200
1280 x 960
640 x 480
2304 x 1712 (3.94 mp)
2240 x 1680 (3.76 mp)
The camera records the images in to JPEG ...

You will appreciate the quality produced by the QV-R3 as soon as you view your images. This cam is sized right and priced right. It is so easy to use that it's hard to believe it is so feature-rich! The compact configuration of the high-performance QV-R3 camera makes it perfect for recording those special moments whenever and wherever they happen. LSI system provides lightening-fast response of about 0.01 second, which means there is virtually no time loss between the point you press the shutter release and when the image record is beginning. A simple, stylish stainless steel body provides QV-R3 with a high level of durability and a feel of quality. Modes are selected using a flat-profile dial, and all function keys are carefully positioned for easy, intuitive operation. Images can be stored on an SD memory card, and the camera also includes built-in flash memory that allows recording even when a card is not loaded or when the memory card is full.
