I have been sceptical about digital cameras in the past due to some bad experiences. Slow to load up poor pictures and little battery life were amoung the many problems. All of which were solved by Casio. I am not an expert by any means but I found this camera so simple to use. It has an incredibly quick start up time, less than some manual cameras. The picture quality is fantastic, all of my pictures are clear and crisp even to a large size. The scene select feature is incredibly easy to use with a wide range of options, excellent for beginners like me who can be unsure of some camera features. You simply pick the most appropriate scene for you surroundings, i.e. nighttime, scenery, close ups, and the camera automatically adjusts all its settings to fit.
Size wise it was great, quite heavy with metal casing, but this is usually a good sign in digital cameras. It is small and sleek with well designed buttons, this camera looks good.
The battery life is surprisingly good, the camera came with rechargeable batteries, but they are AA size. So if they do run out replacements are always available. i have bought a further four standard rechargeable batteries and have found that they last through even a two week holiday. the software from Casio is not great and a little outdated. I found editing my pictures quite hard and the downloading speed can be slow. However I do tend to download about 100 at a time so its not too bad.
The movie feature doesnt have sound but is stil handy, I didnt find this a problem as I didnt buy the camera for this purpose. Its not a video camera and doesnt pretend to be. If its an important feature to you buy a video camera.
Overall I feel this camera is excellent value, easily competing with others in its range that are far more expensive. It is very easy to use and navigate ( I barely looked at the manual and have had no problems ). Its features are good for a camera of its class and most importantly the pictures are of an incredible quality.
