At nearly six pounds, this isn't the cheapest hair dye out there but it's incredibly easy to use and virtually mess-free. Also, it works.
After a disasterous highlighting adventure, i used Casting Creme Gloss in Mahogany to cover up the damage. I have used this product (same colour) in the past, and it covers greys perfectly. I was impressed with the way it also covered up my unwanted highlights. They still show through a little bit, but more as tasteful lowlights as opposed to the brassy orange streaks i had before.
Casting Creme Gloss is easy to use. You basically mix two bottles together and shake. The manufacturers have even made a handy slit in the box so that you can wedge your bottle of mixture in it and it will stand upright. Now, that's really thoughtful!
The mahogany shade came out on my medium-dark brown hair as somewhat darker than the shade on the box. However, when in sunlight, my hair looks red which is what i wanted.
As well as the ingredients for mixing, the box contains a generous helping of colour-sealing conditioner, sufficient for at least three applications on my thick, curly, collar-length hair. Brilliant!
I have also, in the past, used this product on top of henna'd hair with no ill effects. However, it's not recommended in the instructions.
The dye itself is very easy to apply, doesn't drip and you only need to leave it on for 20 minutes. It's the most hassle-free and least messy hair dye i've ever used (and i've used a lot!) It also has a pleasant smell and doesn't wash out too quickly.
One word of caution: You definitely need to perform a strand test and a scalp test before using this product. On the last two occasions of using this product, i did notice a slight itching sensation which disappeared after a couple of days.
