at long last everyone's favourite Nazi basher, B J Blazkowicz, is back in Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Set during World War II, Return to Castle Wolfenstein finds the Nazis dabbling in the black arts in an effort to raise a demonic prince from the dead and create an army of uber soldats. Naturally, Blazkowicz is the only thing that can stop this supernatural onslaught, so he's set behind enemy lines in an effort to stop Himmler and his evil lieutenant Deaths Head. On the surface, the single-player game seems like pure gold--after all, everyone loves blowing away Nazis. The graphics look great and the catacomb levels are non-stop action as the armies of the undead are intent on sucking your brains out and serving them up on a nice bit of Melba toast. But it's not the longest game in the world and in the end does fall a little short of the standards set by titles such as Half-Life and Max Payne. In fact, the best thing about Return to Castle Wolfenstein is its team-based multiplayer mode. Each multiplayer adventure features Axis vs. Allies and both sides offer four character classes: engineer (removes obstacles), medic (heals and revives team-mates), lieutenant (calls in air strikes and replenishes ammo) and soldier (only class able to use sniper rifles, flamethrowers and other unusual weapons). The game includes only eight multiplayer maps, but they are all perfectly designed, and in order to be successful teams have to work together. The result is a great gaming experience that fans of Counter-Strike or the Day of Defeat mode for Half-Life will really appreciate. Graphically, Return to Castle Wolfenstein looks amazing. It uses the powerful Quake III engine to great effect and the character models, explosions and lighting effects are all perfectly done. --Jason Trebegger

...I am an age-old gamer of the Commodore 64. Old-fashioned, a young nip of the X-Box360 generation might say, but I know I could reduce that young nip to tears if I fully and justifiably explained to him how woefully inept the games of his brand new console are, at the time of this writing, in comparison to my eighties masterpieces like CASTLEWOLFENSTEIN. Indeed, as yet no game of the 360 comes anywhere close to the Commodore 64's ZORK I: THE GREAT UNDERGROUND EMPIRE. In fact, no game of the 360 comes anywhere close to the Commodore 64's TAI-PAN. ...After months of waiting I finally bought the 360, and wasn't disappointed. Immediately I saw that the console looked amazing and was extremely simple to set up (no manual required). After setting up my first profile I loaded my first game (Oblivion) and was struck by how stunning the graphics were, even on my poor television. You can literally see the horizon for miles, instead of just a few meters as on PC or old consoles. Details from the biggest castle to blades of grass are immense. The other great thing about the 360 is its online community where you can play games through Xbox live. But not just the 360 games, you can download games with points that you accumulate through completing aspects of your 360 games. Also you can update your current games through Xbox Live and gain support so that you can play your old games...

...Return to CastleWolfenstein really is the best game ever. The graphics and realism of the gameplay are absolutely stunning! I knew I had to buy it since being a fan of the early ID Games including Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny.
The game starts with a movie-like cut scene where you see Nazi excavators digging up the remains of Heinrich I, an historical dark knight which the Germans want to use to wage a war of the undead on their opponents.
Next you gain control of the action where you begin to fight your way through a whole load of Nazi soldiers and officers working your way up to more futuristic baddies.
There's not a lot more that can be said without playing this game for yourself. I highly advise downloading of the demo!...
