Castrol is one of the oldest established companies dealing in oils, and are a very well known brand, they have a nice modern website, which is very good. You will see there info on sponsorship with football, plus motor racing, and other interesting stuff like car buyer guides, checking of tyres, How to - type of guides. I'm not being sexist, just that some things here are of use to female drivers, male drivers too of course.
Have a look, you might learn something, and enjoy it:-

The oil is easy to pour or squirt in with a tube, without spilling any. It is available in small bottles, ideal for topping up. Some gearboxes, require the oil to be pumped in.

As for the price of this oil, the answer is simply - just shop around, many supermarkets sell motor oil, at better prices than your motor accessory shops. This is a mineral based oil, so it is cheaper than the synthetic version. If you are buying five litres at a time, it becomes a lot cheaper, but you're more likely to just need half a pint for topping up with. If you want cheap oil, then share with some of your mates and buy all your requirements at once, gearbox oil, engine oils, anti freeze, polish, grease etc.

The EP on the bottle, stands for "Extreme Pressure", because manual gearboxes are actually under pressure, I know how they feel.
This oil is a traditional mineral based oil, not your new fangled modern synthetic.

80W explained - The figure, 80, refers to the visosity or thickness at low temperatures, and the letter "W" simply means this is suitable for winter conditions.

Have you checked your gearbox oil level?
I can recommend this stuff, suitable for all gearboxes apart from automatics, these require ATF, automatic transmission fluid. (I did a review on this stuff too.)

Castrol's history goes back a hundred years or so, perhaps this company could go on for another hundred. I just wonder if there will be a demand for fossil fuels by then, or maybe all lubricants will be grown as crops in the future?
