CASTROLHIGH MILES or MILE HIGH OIL! .
This brand of oil reviewed here is known as CastrolHighMileage motor oil, it is non synthetic oil, or more commonly known as a traditional mineral based oil. There are no synthetic additives added.
The viscosity of this oil is 15W-50 15 means the thickness of the oil in low temperatures, W means it complies with the requirements for winter conditions, and 50 means the thickness of the oil at high temperatures.
This newer synthetic type oil may be more suited for newer engines, but the old mineral oil is best in engines over say ten years old, or 100,000 miles, although different engine makers recommend different things nowadays. Synthetic oil has become really popular, and has been in production for many years now.
The old mineral oil still has it's place though, and this particular ...
Advantages: Brilliant stuff. Disadvantages: None at oil . : )
The brand of oil we are going to be reviewing here, is Castrol Magnatec GTX15W-40, this is a synthetic motor oil. It has been been described as a breakthrough in engine oil technology, Castrol Magnatec is a high quality product containing esther molecules, these provide a unique molecular attraction. The molecules are actually attracted to metal surfaces, hence the name Magnatec. They provide a continuous oil film, even when your engine is switched off. It is a well known fact that 75% of engine wear occurs during the initial start up, and it's been well proven that this oil provides some four times more protection than conventional engine oils, this protection is there right from the moment your ignition key is turned. OK, now we know where they get the name from, and what sort of oil it is.

The term viscosity of this ...
Advantages: Very good oil. Disadvantages: Can be expensive depending where you buy.
OK, Yet another review on engine oil, I know I do tend to do these, but you keep reading them so you only have yourselves to blame.
I have done a few reviews on Castrol, because I like the stuff, and because I believe it is good value for money, this review is on the GTX brand, sold under the Magnatec label, in it's 10w-40 version.
I will just explain what these figures mean, sorry if you have heard this before but so many people just go for the one with the fancy Logo on the can.
The first figure - "10W" - means that the oil can be pumped by your engine, just as well as a single-grade SAE 10 oil can be pumped. The "W" means that this oil is suitable for Winter conditions, this is because the oil is a Multigrade, and therefore suitable for all seasons. If you have a classic car which will be only started up in the Summertime ...
