'Cat', by Freya North is a deliciously satisfying novel. The story revolves around Catriona Mccabe, known as 'Cat', and her job as a reporter on the Tour de France.
As a devoted Freya North fan, I found this book as entertaining and enjoyable as her
previous novels. Cat is one of three ... Read review

...her previous novels. Cat is one of three sisters and there is a novel about each of them. the other two are 'Fen' and 'Pip'. All three sisters feature in this novel, and if you read the other novels you will encounter Cat from her sisters point of view.
This novel centres on Cat's love of the Tour de france. Much of the book is commentary on the race and the riders, but it delves deeply into Cat's relationships with new-found friends and lover. ... ...around France with the tour. It shows how her career develops, how she changes as a person, and how her passion grows.
I found myself laughing with or at Cat, feeling frustrated at or with her, but best of all loving her and her life style. Other characters draw you in, such as young Luca, on his first ever tour, Josh, Cats friend and fellow reporter, Rachel, soigneur to the riders and new found friend of Cat, and Ben who is doctor to the team.

...focus is very much upon Cat and her friends and just skims the surface of the Tour de France in a most exciting and interesting way.
Cat is a journalist working at her first Tour de France, and trying to get over a failed romance. As with all of Freya Norths books I found myself drawn to the characters in Cat, they are totally believable and Cat is the kind of girl I'd be happy to have as a friend. I found it difficult to put this book down and ... ...for a little longer. Cat is a warm and witty read, I found myself smiling and laughing out loud (got some bery funny looks from the other commuters!)
All said and done this is a very good read which I would recommend to anybody who enjoys books by the likes of Jane Green or Fiona Walker and anybody who has read and enjoyed any of Freya Norths other books. ...

Cat is a really excellent book.
I had previously read four of Freya North's previous works (Polly, Sally, Fen, Chloe) and thus expected Cat to be equally good, if not better. It did not disappoint.
From the blurb, a reader with no interest in cycling might dismiss Cat, but it would be their loss!
From page one, Cat draws you in to the excitement of the Tour De France, the believeable characters, and the exciting plot.
Cat is a sports journalist ... ...very male dominated field. The book covers her three week journey and the impact it has on her life, as she tries to get over a failed relationship, whilst forging new friendships within the Tour "family", and developing her career and her self.
There was a sufficient balance of aspects to the story, from the sporting side of things, to Cat's developing friendships. I almost believed I was there with them!
My only criticism was that it ended too ...

...I love reading books, but i was always reading Point Horrors up until i left school. But when i left, i didnt want to read them anymore, i wanted something more 'Grown- up'. So i went into WHSmith and i was looking and looking, but they all looked the same. On the way home, I went to pick up a magazine, as i looked on the shelf, there was More, with a free book. Taking a closer look, it was FreyaNorth's Fen book. So i bought it. I did not bother reading the magazine, just started to read the book. And i dont think i put it down.
So after i read that book, i knew what i was looking for, so walking into WHSmith again, walking straight over to that section, but then i got there are there were more to choose from.
FreyaNorth has done a few books,
*Fen
*Sally
*Cat
*Pip
*Chloe
I had already read fen, so i thought i would...

Advantages: Fun, Great description of the USA, Disadvantages: Finishes too quickly!
...If you have ever been on an exchange to the USA then this book will appeal to you. Polly is a twentysomething teacher from London who goes on an exchange to Vermont in the US. She soon forgets boyfriend Max at home when she meets hunky Chip the basketball teacher!
With a writing style that flows well and charactors who are believable, 'Polly'made me want to pack my bags and head over to the states to experience a change in life for a while at least! FreyaNorth has also written 'Chloe' and 'Sally' and her latest novel 'Cat' is another must have.
Great holiday read for those lazy days on the beach!...
