FBI agent hot on his trail, Catch Me If You Can stars Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio and two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks in one of the year's most acclaimed hits! From Three-time Oscar winning director Steven Spielberg, Catch Me If You Can follows Frank W Abagnale Jr, as he successfully passes himself off as a pilot, a lawyer and a doctor - all before his 21st birthday!
A lot less momentous in subject matter than most recent Steven Spielberg films,Catch Me If ... more
You Canis the "inspired by a true story" tale of Frank Abagnale Jr (Leonardo di Caprio), a mature-looking teenager who spent the 1960s as an odd type of conman: passing himself off as an airline pilot to get free flights, holding down a job as supervisor of an ER team, and even passing a bar exam after only two weeks' study, all the while dealing in forged cheques. As his illicit earnings spiral up above four million dollars, Frank is dogged by FBI agent Hanratty (Tom Hanks), a plodder who begins to have a relationship with his quarry--the boy politely telephones him every Christmas to catch up.It may have a Spielbergian running time (two hours and 20 minutes) and boast big stars usually found only in thumping epics, but it's basically a breezy character piece with tactful shots of melancholy amid the high-flying, no-harm-done criminality. DiCaprio does his best screen work as the compulsive impersonator, turning his rather vague presence to his advantage as he slips into his various roles, and the typical Spielberg fathers-and-sons theme is delicately played in the kid's scenes with his real (Christopher Walken) and surrogate dads. It's a pleasure to find that Spielberg can play it light without sacrificing depth. Set in the pastel 1960s, with James Bond and vintageFlashcomics for context, the film has smart patter, a terrific mod-look credits animation and John Williams' most finger-snappin' score in decades. --Kim Newman

● Opinion
Quite often when you read the blurb on the back of a DVD case, that despite what sounds like an intriguing plot as well a star studded cast and an exceptionally talented director the film is going to disappoint. Such is the case of "CatchMeifYouCan" a film inspired by a true story of cat and mouse between a young con man and an FBI agent. Whilst disappointing the film is not terrible, it just has a few too many flaws ...
Advantages: interesting story Disadvantages: a bit long
I think it's safe to say that 'Catchmeifyoucan' is not the typical sort of movie I watch. If it's not a girly chick flick, comedy or kids film, I'm usually not interested, but after being assured that this film contained no violence or gore, I agreed on watching the DVD!
~The Plot~

Frank is devastated, but shortly afterwards, he returns home, and an even bigger bombshell is dropped on him - his parents are getting divorced. A lawyer talks to Frank, and tells him he must choose which of his ...
Advantages: Acting, Script, Story Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste
the background story

Abagnale made a career of 1 thing, fraud, more specifically impersonation and fraud, which included impersonating a pirate a doctor and a lawyer, all the while forging cheques, and cashing them, what started as a small time thing in america become a world wide scam.
The movie
Starts with a game show type scenario where by the host asks 3 men (all of whom are "Frank william abagnale") questions about him (well asking the first 2) before it goes off to a French prison, in which Frank is being held.
We then go back the a flash back of when Jnr was 16 and watching ...
