Cathedral City Mature Cheddar Cheese

if you look at it this way, if you like cheese, you like any cheese really, because at the end of the day, all cheeses are the same, apart from some are stronger than others.

Cathedral Cheddar is a very strong cheddar cheese, yet is is one of the most lovely tasting, mature cheeses around, with a smooth, texture that you could just leave in your mouth to melt. It is just the best Cheese around at present, why, well i will tell you why.

Cheeses are rated between 1 and 5 for there strengths, you have 1 as the least strongest and 5 as the matures, Cathedral comes in at number 4.

The Smell.

The smell is of a strong cheese, but yet it is a nice strong smell, it is not some of these that are to overpowering and you have to hold your nose whilst you put these on your sandwiches or toast, it is a strong yet, you do not mind the smell. I am trying to explain it as good as i possibly can, but it is very hard for me to do this. I will just say, it is a nice strong smelling cheese that leaves a nice odour in the air, and not a strong stench.

The Taste.

This is the real selling point of any cheese, because if they did not taste nice, you would not even go near them, but this one, thank goodness is an amazing taste. The first thing you can taste when you put it in your mouth, is the strong tasting of it, the strength is what makes it so nice, but then after you chew for a while, you realise it is a nice mellow taste to it, not a over welming taste, that makes you need a drink of something after it, it just sits there in your mouth, it is smooth, it is strong but also it is tasty.

Slicing and Melting.

this is another good point of this cheese, because it slices so nicely that you get nice slices from the cheese, without having it crumble up to much, and also as for cooking, it is wonderful in a spag bol, as i always use this, just before the end, i melt the Cheese actually into the sauce and mince as it is coming to the end, and this makes it taste even more than just melting it on top. And as for grating, it grates so nicely, you get them other cheeses that are sticky, that you cannot even get near the grater, then you have the crumbly ones where as soon as they see the grater, they crumble to bits, but this one is in the middle, not so crumbly as to fall apart, but also not so Sticky as to not grate at all, it just grates as elegantly as a Ice Skater on the ice :).

AS i always say in these reviews, we all have different tastes, and we all like different things, but i hope that this little review made you think to even try this, as if you like strong cheeses, that do not leave a strong taste in your mouth this is it, it is just lovely, and if you do not believe me, please go out and buy it.

As for the little thing of the price, you can get a 200grm Block for £1.99, or a 400grm Block for around £3.49 in most good Supermarkets and Co-Ops, or sometimes they come on offer at buy 1 get 1 free, but the best thing is to check your local stockist, and see what deals they are doing, because this is really a worth while cheese.
