Advantages: Slim Format; great sound (when properly set up) Disadvantages: Brief manual; clunky menus
...This is a great looking system, and has a great sound but only after you have worked out how to get the best out of it.
The manual assumes a certain level of knowledge regarding AV and Hi-Fi set up and terminology, which is not always useful. I certain amount of trial and error may be required but the Average Man in the Street. To compound this the remote is a clone of an old panasonic tv unit that appears to have been reprogrammed to handle the Celestion controls with little thought of ergonomics.
However, if this unit finds itself in the hands of an AV officinardo, and the style and sound deserves it to be, and who has a unversial remote, then the owner should be presented with a rich and rewarding movie sound and sharp clear images. The component output was top of the line when the AVR300 was released and still is the best way...

Advantages: A very, very capable all rounder. No real weakness in any variety of music. Bags of OOmph. Disadvantages: No second set of speaker option making bi-wiring a bind.
...This is a great amplifier. You are probably looking here as you are considering buying a used one - well go for it as you will not regret it. I have owned one for a number of years as both my main and then bedroom amp. I have used it to drive all manner of speakers from bookshelf to standmounts to floorstnders and it struggled with none of them. I have mine rigged up to a pair of Mission 773s and they are great in combination. In the past I had a pair of Eltax Liberty 3 standmounded speakers with a Celestion CS135 passive subwoofer and this setup punched WAY above its financial weight and impressed a friend of mine used to spending thousands on pre-amps alone.
I will not go into detail bere about how this amp reacts to what specific song as that to me just sounds pretentious. They do not favour one type of music over another so this...

Advantages: Looks, smoothness of bass, crispness of treble Disadvantages: Look to nice to leave to grilles on all the time
...guitar or a cymbal, it really cuts. It stays balanced at almost any volume, and has no problems with going loud. To me, the treble is on a par with JBL and Celestion and sounds far more crisp than the fabric tweeters that many other manufacturers use
Mid (escpecially the vocal band) is very transparent and clean. and again this stays transparent and clean, regardless of volume.
These speakers look stunning. There is no other way to describe them. With the black grills on, they look fairly normal, apart from the very deep cabinets (which help with the bass extension). With the grills off, they look awesome. The faceplate is all silver aluminium, with clean lines around the tweeter. The bass driver is made from aluminium, and is a silvery white with a very attractive sheen to it. The CPC (Constant Profile Cone) technology means the cone...
