<ring ring..........ring ring>, ME: Hello Cellular ops: Hello, Mr. Caldwell? Me: Yes? CO: We were given your name by BT Cellnet as someone who may be looking for a new Mobile..... Me: but.... CO: .....Phone, we are doing a promotion on the new Ericsson phone and if you order one now it will be with you the day after tomorrow........ Me: but......... CO:......the good thing about this deal is that the first three months are free (except for calls made).......... And so it went on until, finally, they wore me down and convinced me that my life would be fulfilled when I received my phone.
Three months later....... It dawned on me that my life was less than fulfilled, my mobile phone was ugly and costing me a small fortune, so I exercised my right to cancel the contract and sent the damned phone back and cancelled the direct debit after the last bill was paid.
Six months later........I was leading a happy and fulfilled life, I was back using my old but beloved Nokia 3110 on a low user tariff with a years line rental costing only £25, as I say life was sweet, until the fateful morning that the postman knocked twice, it was a bill from Cellular ops for line rental, itemized billing and VAT for the Ericsson. I called them, was left hanging for 45 mins, got pissed off waiting so e-mailed them instead, confident that their mistake in billing me for a phone I no longer had would be sorted post haste. How wrong can you be? four weeks later I received another bill with another months line rental, etc etc. This time I waited until I could actually speak to someone from cellular ops, I was assured that the problem would be rectified and if another bill appeared I was just to ignore it.
Two months later.......I was shocked to receive a solicitors letter telling me that,"If payment is not made within four days, we will be forced to start court proceedings against you, this could affect your credit rating in the future!".
After much ranting and raving over the phone to cellular ops, they told me to contact the company dealing with my debt as they could not discuss it with me since they had placed it with the debt collecting agency (Equifax). Eqifax were equally reluctant to talk to me about it and told me to take it up with Cellular ops........And so it went on, neither company would discuss it with me so drastic action had to be taken.
I sent a rather unpleasant e-mail to cellular ops threatening legal action against them for harassment. No reply, so I instructed my solicitor to write to them and demand an explanation.
Two months later.....Monday morning, joy of joys I received a humble apology from Cellular ops, at last a result. Tuesday morning, I received confirmation from the solicitors acting for cellular ops that "As we have not heard from you regarding your overdue account with Cellular ops, we have no alternative but to take you to court to recover the total amount due plus costs".
My padded cell is nice and quiet; I share it with two pink bananas's who insist on calling me Shirley.....................

...monthly line rental account with Cellular Operations about one and a half years ago and, to be fair to them, for a year everything was fine. This was until I decided to upgrade my phone in the middle of last year. I was assured that all I had to do if I wanted to cancel the account was give them 30 days notice. When it actually came to giving the 30 day notice I was told (three months after serving the notice, after receiving bills and final demands) ... ...contract when I upgraded the phone.
In trying to convince them otherwise I was blatantly strung along so they could add more and more to the outstanding balance. Finally I returned the phone in full working order, only to be informed that it was broken when they received it. They said that either I paid the outstanding balance or paid for a new handset!
After repeated stalling and blocking tactics I finally got to talk to someone more senior in ...

...third party for billing - Cellular Operations. I can empathise completely with all the other opinions on Cellular Operations as I've had nothing but problems from them if something goes wrong (which it has, several times). I'll tell you about the latest thing and what has left me feeling so angry i've come on here to tell you all.
I recently switched to T-mobile (who, so far, have been excellent - fantastic customer service, great welcome pack - ... ...obtaining a PAC code from Cellular Operations, before my line was closed with them. However, they cocked up and then had to reopen the line, and sent me all this rubbish welcoming me to Vodafone, giving me bumph about being a new customer etc. I cancelled my direct debit with them so that they wouldn't take any money they shouldn't but didn't phone them to let them know they've made a mistake and i'm not a new customer because i'm fed up spending ...

My problems with Cellular started almost straight away. I started my contract with them back in September-October 2001. After about 6 weeks I received a text message to say I was going to have my calls barred and to contact them. Which I did. I was told I had to pay £50.00 and my bill (which was not even due to be debited for another 2 week) and then and only then could I resume normality. I asked why they had done this, I had only ever had one bill ... ...longer an unhappy customer of Cellular until...my mum received her bank statement!!!
Since November 2002 they had been taken the amount of £16.99 (don't know where they got £16.99 from - when the original amount was £11.99 but no doubt that's another story!) out of her bank account using the details from HER Switch card. On noticing this she immediately telephoned them, they would not discuss anything with her and were dam right rude. So I telephoned ...

...twelve months of being with cellular ops i decided to see what they had to offer a customer who was loyal, paid bills on time and never asked for anything. i rang them up and after being bounced from dept to dept finaly spoke to a very pleasent person who helped in the best way they could, i asked what upgrades were available and said that i was looking for the T100 i was told this wasnt an option if i wanted this phone i had to pay £250. so i excepted ... ...no word low enough for them, they have no concideration, no customer focus, no comunication and train people to be the most obnoxious, selfrightiouse pricks you could find any where on this planet. in conclusion i strongly advise people to avoid cellular operations like the plauge, they are THE WORST. ...

Advantages: good network, different-different value added services. Disadvantages: costlier than other
I have used mobile services from different operators. Among them I found that vodafone is the best service provider. Slogan of vodafone "happy to help" proved by themselves. The reason for saying the best service provider from my point of view is transperancy of vodafone. There are many cellularoperators in India and they are also claiming that they are the best service providers. But I think that they are not transperant in their service. Because when I have dispute of bill amount or any other service related or network issue, I got solution of my incovenience from vodafone. In my opinion service of vodafone is better than other, because they are emphasizing on customer satisfaction. Whenever I called customer care I got solution of my problem. ...

Advantages: reception good in most areas Disadvantages: service leaves a hell of lot to be desired
I'm on Vodafone and I've only once had an issue with service - on the top of Ilkley Moor in Yorkshire! (although having said that, my phone offered the option of a call to 112, so presumably Cellnet had coverage there!)
My real gripe with Vodafone is my "service" provider, CellularOperations, who surprisingly for a phone company you might think have real difficulty in answering their own phones within half an hour. Of course, you pay for the dubious privalege of listening to their hold music - how very kind!
A case in point was last month when they decided they would debit my bank account on the wrong day without any notice. I tried to call them but couldn't get through. So I had the direct debit reversed by the bank under direct debit indemnity - took them three weeks to get in touch with me, not by post as you might expect ...

Advantages: Those are obvious for CIOA members Disadvantages: None
Two weeks ago under the title of " Customer Service a misnomer I uploaded an opinion concerning the lack of service received from Cellularoperation Ltd. over a long period in connection with renewing my Cell Net mobile phone contract.
After my opinion was published it was shown to the Customer relations manager of said company by one of CIOA members. As a result of this, I received an e-mail from the Lady who is the customer relations manager of Cellularoperation Ltd. She asked me to let her have my mobile and account number . I responded by sending her these and details of the run around I had had from their call center.
As a result of this I received another e-mail containing a profuse apology and assurance that the departmental managers had been told this was NOT acceptable have also been promised very generous ...
