Do not buy the Baxi Potterton 105e - trust me, ive got one and im about to rip it out. All Baxi 105e's should be taken to your nearest neighbour with an untaxed car ... that way DVLC will take it away and crush it for free. It is a very unreliable boiler. Plumbers recommend it because its easy for them to fit. This boiler is prone to problems that cost a small fortune to diagnose and a greater fortune to fix. Baxi customer service and backup is non-existent ...

Advantages: purchase cost, efficiency
Disadvantages: reliability

Have had the Baxi condensing boiler for about 7 years. I have also had poor reliability from the boiler. Original heat exchanger door seals break down and the leaking heat then trips out boiler on high temp safety cut off. Since the original door seals were replaced I have had no more problem. Also had problems with condesor trap tripping boiler. Had to replace the water flow cut -off switch which failed. The boiler has now been working ok for ...

On the plus side the boiler was cheaper to buy than other makes at the time. Also the efficiency is good. Potterton Suprima 120L

Advantages: Absolutely None whatsoever
Disadvantages: Inefficient, unreliable, extremly costly to repair and potentially very dangerous!!!!! AVOID

The red and green lights started flashing and a loud clicking noise was heard. Tried resetting with the reset button and then by switching the electricity supply to the boiler on and off. No joy. On 9th October 2009 a Salesman came from Northern Gas and quoted us a price for a new boiler, and as we had been without heat and water for two weeks waiting for quotes, and as we are both in our seventies, he said he would try to arrange installation the following week.
