Worcester Combi 37 DCi - moderate product, poor service

Advantages: Works OK when working
Disadvantages: Frequent loss of pressure, Expensive installation

...3-bedroomed house. However, Worcester boilers often have pressure problems that lead to wild fluctuations in water temperature. These aren't mentioned in the installation notes or user instructions, which seems odd as it is clear from web searches that loss of pressure is a very common experience. Worcester even provide a little plastic key (not mentioned in their literature) with which water pressure can be adjusted - instructions at: http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=208690 ...

Goodbye Old Friend

Advantages: Easy to use, reliable
Disadvantages: None

...due to have a new Vaillant Combi Boiler installed and I am hoping that it will be as trouble free as the old Vaillant it will be replacing. My old Vaillant has been a reliable and trouble free workhorse for over 24 years and it has been worth every penny that it cost when we bought it. I doubt if many boilers have lasted as long as this one! I was advised by my fitter at the time it was installed that they were the best boilers on the market and ...

Potterton Suprima 120L

Advantages: Absolutely None whatsoever
Disadvantages: Inefficient, unreliable, extremly costly to repair and potentially very dangerous!!!!! AVOID

...in autumn 2001 and a Potterton Suprima 120L installed. Since then the boiler has had two replacement circuit boards. The second failed last night. The red and green lights started flashing and a loud clicking noise was heard. Tried resetting with the reset button and then by switching the electricity supply to the boiler on and off. No joy. Later clicking noise was replaced by loud crackling noise. Boiler is wired up to a cicuit breaker but this ...
...be looking to do some research and replace this with a more reliable boiler (UNLIKELY it will be Potterton). After all, having seen the information on the internet, Potterton ARE AWARE of the serious problems with these boilers and DO NOTHING about it. They do not deserve my custom. ...

Baxi 105e

Advantages: Comes in white
Disadvantages: Unreliable and expensive to maintain

Do not buy the Baxi Potterton 105e - trust me, ive got one and im about to rip it out. All Baxi 105e's should be taken to your nearest neighbour with an untaxed car ... that way DVLC will take it away and crush it for free. It is a very unreliable boiler. Plumbers recommend it because its easy for them to fit. This boiler is prone to problems that cost a small fortune to diagnose and a greater fortune to fix. Baxi customer service and backup is non-existent ...
...and complicated to use. This boiler keeps a vast population of gas repair fitters in work ... so do not buy his boiler unless you wish to assist adding to the already high level of unemployment in the building industry! Buy an Italian or German Boiler as Baxi is a rip-off. ...

Don't touch Ravenheat CSI-85 boilers with a barge pole!

Advantages: Enables you to appreciate how people lived in the days before boilers and central heating
Disadvantages: Unreliable in the true sense of the word

...were eventually solved by a Ravenheat technician coming out working with the plumber. Operated without any major hitches for first 18 months, then started to go wrong - horribly wrong. Fortunately, we've had insurance cover but as of today (£1200 worth of repairs since January this year) - the insurer will no longer cover us - 14 day cancellation clause! Looking back through the numerous service reports, we've had 12 breakdowns in the last five ...
...£268 a shot!), two new temperature probes, one digital programmer (clock), one air pressure switch, one ignitor, one ignition board and one gas control valve. The other two breakdowns were rectified without any spare parts. And this is all in addition to regular annual servicing. Water has always taken ages to heat up - very poor hot water flow rate. Anyway, its days are numbered now - going to go with a proper reliable boiler! You definitely get ...
