I generally suffer from quite extreme side effects if I take any contraceptive pill. I started off on Dianette, which made me incredibly hungry, there were (as far as I noticed) no mental side effects, but the weight gain made me stop taking it. Microgynon made me put on a small amount of weight, and Cileste made me feel a bit ill. However, none of these did not have at least one side effect that made me able to carry on using them. I started taking Yasmin as my friend was on it. At first, the side effects were just physical. I felt sick, constantly. Then, a few weeks into take it the mental side effects began. I couldn't understand why I was so upset, my life had not changed drastically, yet I suddenly found it hard to understand how anyone could possibly be happy! I was crying every day, at even the smallest things. After realising it was down to Yasmin, I stopped taking it. (The stomach pains did not susbisde either throughout my time using it.) BUT none of the 4 contraceptive pills I had tried before affected me as severely as Cerazette, which I used for only ONE WEEK. After four days I woke up and cried three times in one day, for apparently no reason (I usually rarely cry at all). By the fifth day I was a complete state, my emotions were uncontrollable and I found myself screaming and crying (this was unbelievably out of character!!) at my parents who were genuinely shocked at my behaviour. I am not at all implying that this would happen to anyone who used Cerazette, but thought I would share my experience. I would like to warn anyone who has suffered from mental side effects to using contraceptive pills to be wary of this one, as my weeks usage completely changed my personality. It wore off a few days after stopping taking it, but if I could go back i would not use it again!
