Cesar - for man eaters who rip your throat out? No, the key thing is the missing letter 'A' in C(a)esar - less the emperor of the world than a little yappy thing. When I tell you that this stuff started out as 'Mr Dog' I think you get the picture...

Cesar is a dog food that comes in either tins or plastic containers with peel off lids and it's exclusively for the smaller breed of dogs as it includes a special yap proof ingredient...either that or a sound little kick to the abdomen should do the trick.

Mrs D is a big lover of the cairn terrier (very, very suspicious if you ask me, and even if you don't, still extremely sus) and so we get through a lot of this odd little delicacy. Cairn terriers are small dogs who like a lot of exercise and I guess they're well typical of the yapsters who eat this sort of muck.

It actually looks quite palatable (S-H-U-D-D-E-R!!) and it comes in a lot of well tasty (BY DESCRIPTION lunkhead!) varieties, like chicken, beef, rabbit, lamb, rat, pork.... wait a min, rat? (Just checking to see if you're paying attention all you skim readers out there - I could add that anyone who reads this op without picking this bit up are all scum sucking churners who deserve to have their bottoms burned in Hell - I wonder how many readers will pick this up and comment on it - a bit like my carrots are revolting for those who recall the jape)

It smells all right and looks like it is actually made out of meat. Our two terriers really love the stuff, although you have to add in small bite mixer to give them a bit of roughage, but for our older dog (now fifteen) it's not enough and he's eternally on the hunt for tit bits.

For small dogs, Cesar is excellent food and ours have never turned their noses up at any of it (apart from when they're well stuffed) and we've been buying it for about fifteen years. We've found it to be the one dog food that on the whole doesn't get wasted and does at least keep the little terrors from giving us too much jip.

Oh yes, don't tell Captain Buckett about this treat, or he'll be scrounging tins (see my op on Urine Therapy for details)...

A puppy dogs tale
Review of Cesar by donf18

Advantages: Tasty well so the puppy says
Disadvantages: dearer than other brands but worth it

...now she has switched to Cesar which seems to be suiting her very well. The reason we chose Cesar is because our last dog Tara which we lost a few months ago was a fussy dog and she liked Cesar. Cesar comes in different categories for different sized dogs. Cesar Junior, Regular, and Senior. There is no need for additional supplements as Cesar contains everything your dog needs. Even so a little treat now wouldn't go amiss Cesar can be bought in ...
...I get a feeding time Cesar is a very good puppy/dog food indeed. As i stand at the sink and open the tub the smell wafts its way through the house and in seconds I have an energetic little puppy pawing at my legs. Now i know that puppies just eat and eat but dividing the tub into four over the day is plenty for a small puppy. Dividing it into 2 portions will suffice a small dog. So from Tasha it's a BIG thumbs up for Cesar in both taste and value. ... Read review

Cesar: Bad spelling, worse smelling, but great.
Review of Cesar by JonnyWigan

Advantages: My pampered pooch loves it.
Disadvantages: A little more expensive than most. Only suitable for small dogs.

...to find a flavour of Cesar that Bobby doesn't like, and (now, this is really really sad - and I apologise in advance) just like in the adverts, we've put a bowl of an alternative type of dog food next to Cesar, and there was just no contest. Bobby didn't even look at the other dog food. Our dog loves the stuff, and although it's a little bit more expensive than your usual brands, and the smell of some of the wierd and wonderful flavours tend to ...
...worth it just to see how grateful Bobby is after he's wolfed the lot down. You only get just enough in each carton to feed a small dog, so if you have anything larger than a Westie or Jack Russell, you'll need a couple of cartons at a time, and that will cost you small fortune. So why does the little dog get his dinner as a priority? Easy, he's learned that when we go shopping and he sees us unload the carton of Cesar, if he runs round and round ... Read review

MY DOGS CHOOSE CESAR
Review of Cesar by SUZ131975

Advantages: they like it
Disadvantages: pricey, terrible wind

...are two draw backs with cesar as far as i am concerned, number 1 being price, it is so dame expensive in comparison with other dog meats. Never mind we will give our pets what they want. The second draw back is Wind, my goodness, it could knock an elephant off of its feet, apart from that I have no complaints. So a definate yes for cesar from my doggies. ... Read review

Because they're worth it
Review of Cesar by laurajones

Advantages: popular with our dog, range of flavours
Disadvantages: fairly expensive

...That's why i chose Cesar. Cesar dog food comes in eithe tins or foil packets and my dog definitely prefers the foiled Cesar. Although these are quite expensive (around 60p each), a small dog shouldn't need more than one a day, so it's not too expensive when you work it all out. The Cesar packets come in a variety of different flavours (some with veg in). I think one of the reasons our dog likes it is that the chunks of meat are in jelly which adds ... Read review

Woof!
Review of Cesar by Hollie_o

Advantages: Good quality
Disadvantages: Quite expensive for small tin

My dog absolutely loves this food - which is a bit worrying considering hes a Boxer. Because my dog is quite large he can go through 10 of these little meals a day! You would probably be better buying this dog food for a small dog as the portions are small, this food is also very expensive for what it is. It is a great quality food though, and my dog loves it. The meat is great quality and it is soaked in gravy which makes it even more tasty for ... Read review

Gourmet food for Dogs
Review of Cesar Canine Cuisine by  Sunnysmiles

Advantages: Nice treat for dogs
Disadvantages: Expensive for everyday feeding

...My daughter has a lovely Staffordshire Bull Terrier and his name is Mampi Swift, he sometimes comes to visit us and stay for the n night, if she and her boyfriend are going out so that he’s not alone all night and at times like these he like to get a little treat. His favourite is Cesar Canine Cuisine. Cesar comes in a little tin which is 150g per tray and there are quite a few different flavours to choose from. Mampi loves the T-bone Steak flavour and will sit patiently until you have opened the tray and put it in his dog dish then he waits until you say he can have it before devouring the lot in about five seconds flat. The other flavours are Porthouse Steak, Beef, Braised Beef and Vegetables, Lamb, Top Sirloin, Pork Tenderloin and the new breakfast flavours of Smoked Bacon and Eggs. There’s also a Chicken, Chicken... Read review

Cesar
Review of Winalot by  MISSTSANGEL

Advantages: yummy
Disadvantages: wind

...My dog's don't like the cheap food, no they insist on having Cesar , it smells like the stuff that comes out the other end of the dog but they don't seem to mind this much , even if i do , it also give them wind much to my embarassment when friend and family visit. There absolute favourite at the moment seems to be the turkey and goose, but as mentioned above we have to sleep with the windows open at night, because of the discusing aroma. apart from this they always seem to finish it all and even ask for more. I suppose this must be the equivent to our fibre. the big let down is the tins are small and expensive and you always need to give them more...... Read review

Get your bitch to carry the shopping.
Review of Cosipet Outward Hound Quick Release Dog BackPack by  rolletrog

Advantages: Potentially could hold a lot
Disadvantages: Dog will collapse if you fill it with the Friday big shop

...~~*~~*~~ Outward Hound Quick Release Backpack ~~*~~*~~ For those of you who watch a lot of Sky One and blantantly have nothing better to do with your lives, you may have observed the infamous Cesar Milan extolling the virtues of a doggy backpack. Indeed, many professionals within the canine fraternity will concur that, used correctly, the aforementioned device can be a wonderful training aid. Doughnut (choc lab) likes hers cos it's blue. Let me set the scene. If you're unfamiliar with chocolate Labradors and their characteristics then check out my reviews on the breed, their toys and food (all I do is review the dog's possessions, probably because I have none of my own). It's fair to say that when Doughnut reached 6 months, she turned into Devil Dog. "She's just going through adolescence". My arse. She had far too much... Read review
