Chad Valley - Sorting Eggs…………

These Chad Valley sorting eggs is a toy that Jack has had for nearly a year now and it is only recently that he is really getting the full use out of them. Now he is able to use them how they are meant to be played with I thought I would write a quick review on them.

The sorting eggs are basically half a dozen (six) eggs which come housed in a egg tray type box. Each egg can be taken apart giving a top and bottom part of the egg. The bottom part of the egg is fixed into the egg tray where as the top half of the egg can be taken away. Inside the egg, there is a different colour and a different shape. The shape is made to stick out on the part of the egg that detaches and this can then be fixed into the shape hole in that remains in the tray

On top of each egg there is a picture of the corresponding eggs shape and this makes it easy when Jack is trying to decide which shape fits into what hole. The egg idea is a novel one and not one that I have seen elsewhere done in this type of toy. The toy itself is very strong because both the tray and all the eggs are made out of a very strong plastic, this plastic is very shiny and gives the eggs a super gloss.

The eggs themselves are pretty much done to the correct size of a medium egg and this is a good size for Jacks slightly smaller hands to grab onto. The shapes inside the eggs are not completely the standard shapes you get as it has an oval shape, a heart shape, a pentagon shape and then the standard triangle and star shapes. The top half of the shape always fit snugly and easily over the bottom of the shape.

The age range on this toy is 12 months and because Jack has just turned 18 months it is only really these last few months he has been taking any real interest in it. He is now able to put a lot of the shapes into the right place and has fun whilst doing it. He is now pretending it is really an egg and I have given him a little plastic spoon where he pretends to spoon the egg into his mouth (its so cute). So these eggs can be used for other methods of play rather than the one that they were made for.

These eggs not only look good and are well made but also create a lot of fun. I know a few of Jack's little friends who have them and I think this is because they are ideal as a present for a small child on their 1st Birthday or indeed Christmas. They are not so expensive and I would say is an ideal stocking filler.

The eggs cost around the £4 region although at them moment you can probably get them for a really cheap price they way Woolworth's is selling things off. I would give this Shape Sorter Egg Tray a HIGH RECOMMENDATION and a 5 star rating. The eggs and the tray are both made well and are very tough wearing. I think this is a game that would be kept and passed from sibling to sibling and still look pretty new. A well thought out concept and a well made product.
