Like many of you out there I own a cool box. You know, one of those huge plastic, thermally insulated things you use to keep your picnic cold on those occasional hot summer days we get here in the UK. A major drawback to using a cool box is its inability to stay cool for more than a few hours, especially when its loaded with warm bottles of water or cans of pop. I do have some of those liquid freezer packs that you freeze overnight and put in the bottom of the box to keep the temperature low, but they still provide only a small improvement to the amount of time the box stays adequately cold.
A few times I have considered buying a portable fridge, but to be honest the prices they sell at have always put me off...

Advantages: Cheap, matches most wedding gowns Disadvantages: A bit slow!
...I have owned this Hoover Performa AC110 for over seven years. I bought it at a trade centre and paid £199 + VAT (17.5%)
I was a bit wary of purchasing such a cheap machine, but in the seven years that I have had it, it has proved it's worth time and time again.
It doesn't have an exceptionally large drum, but I can squeeze in a double quilt to wash and that is big enough for me.
It is a hot fill machine apart from the pre-wash which is cold fill.
The spin speed is 1100, which is efficient enough. Apparently another 100 on the spin speed would only spin out a further egg cup full of water anyway. It also has a 'half spin' option.
The Hoover Performa AC110 has fourteen wash programmes, includes a delicates wash and a wool wash. The hottest wash is 90 degrees and the coolest is the cold pre-wash.
I was disappointed that the machine...

Advantages: Cost effective stylish heating Disadvantages: None at all
...In my continuing quest for heat a visit to Buyology led me to yet another halogen heater. All my previous heaters had been rotating ones. This little baby is a fixed position one, it's fixed its safe, and its incredibly easy to use.
The GET NTS is a smaller than usual Halogen heater, it sits approximately one and a half feet high by about a foot wide. The heater is made mainly of plastic, with a gazed area containing the halogen tubes. It has three halogen tubes in it, each one gives out 400 watts of heat. As well as giving out great heating you also get great cosy lighting, kind of reminiscent of a flaming coal fire without the flickering. One of these heater will provide a room of up to 20 feet long by 11 feet wide with really great heating, I know this as we used it in a room of these dimensions. However a room slightly larger...

I must admit I'm a bit of a romantic, I've read every one Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe books, and already owned the Sharpe boxset on DVD. So when Sharpe's Challenge was advertised on the TV I was looking forward to watching it. Sadly, due to a family... more
I wanted to play this game as soon as I heard about it, and I wasn't let down; it's really fun and addictive. But it's severely flawed, to the point that it could turn a lot of people off to it. Still, it stands as a shining example of the kinds of cool... more
