Eidos/Sports Interactive Games doors, and followers of the ever popular series will not be disappointed. With over 200,000 players and staff across 39 national leagues, footy fans will delight in the level of detail once again realised--in fact to some it might be slightly mind boggling.New to the game are a number of features including a 2-D match mode that allows you to watch the game unfold, giving you the chance to manage and change positions accordingly when it comes to passing and shooting tactics. Greater emphasis has been placed on training, and the game gives you the chance to assign specific schedules. This of course gives you even more responsibility in making your players "match fit" for the season ahead, and towards the end of the season your decisions become crucial if you plan to get your boys promoted.Other new additions include an enhanced contract negotiation system, a more efficient easier-to-use network play arena and, for those who want it, a skinable interface. In short, this is the most in-depth football sim you'll find on the market. If you are a footy fan then this game will make you loose plenty of sleep. The new features add much-needed elements for the fan base that want more, though they may just be a distraction to the hard-core stat fanatics that rush to buy this title every time it's updated. If you're a football fan this is a must, and if your not, give it a go, you might just love the nation's favourite game after all. --Jason Denwood

Advantages: Addictive, Realistic, how long have you got Disadvantages: Needs so much from the poor computer and can suffer slowdown.
Well as some of you know, and I'm sure some of you don't that one of my favourite games in the ChampionshipManager series. These games have been around now for way over a decade and after the humble beginnings on the BBC computer, Amiga and other such models, the latest ChampionshipManager4 has just hit the shelves, and I am lucky enough to have got a copy so here goes my review.
ChampionshipManager4 as with all of the previous games, relies heavily on the accuracy of the statistics rather more than any other feature. As a result, the players are very true to life, the clubs attitudes and staff attitudes also realistic and amazingly so are the smaller details like average crowd figures and the like. As a result, for anyone who is not into this sort of sports sim, then I guess this game isn't for you. For the other 99 ...
Advantages: Huge Database, Realistic Results, Professional Layout Disadvantages: Slow Running, Many Bugs, No Editor
Background Information
ChampionshipManager4 is the latest edition to the series that has become a huge seller and has many fans, including myself. I have collected all the editions since ChampionshipManager 2 came out nearly 8 years ago. Before I even get into the game side of CM4 I would just like to say about the problems before the game was even released, at the start the game was due to be realised in late November, usually when all the new ones come out so that they can update it with all the summer signings. But than CM4 fans were asured that it would then be released around new year, this came and went and still no sign of the game that was apparently going to be massive, with rumors of options like 'Be The Chairman'. It was around the end of March, which is closer to the next season. Eidos did release a demo with their very ...
Advantages: Good game, fun, good value Disadvantages: Boring after a while
The ChampionshipManager series have been by far the best football management games and have provided hours of amusement for footie fans everywhere. ChampionshipManager 00/01 is very similar to the original ChampionshipManager though the manager has more control. You can interact with the media, fine players, hire coaches and physios and use many more functions. So if you think you can do better than you’re teams current managerChampionshipManager is for you.
ChampionshipManager is very realistic and for wanabee football managers this is the closest they will get to the real thing. You can do all the things club managers can do, buy and loan players, beg the board for more money, apply for different jobs at different clubs and even complain about the ref!
