I have been a diehard smoker fo nearly 20 years - at least 20 a day. 2 weeks ago I went to my docs in desperation and got the Champix. I'd read up on them (including the horror stories) but decide that it might be better than lung cancer.
Anyway, 2 weeks into it and I stopped smoking 4 days ago no problem. For the first 3 days of the treatment, nothing, then suddenly I started getting no pleasure from fags - thought at 1st I'd bought a duff pack fo fags! then realised it was the pills - this quickly became total nausea and I could only take a puff or two before outing the fags. So I stopped smoking on day 10 (I could have stopped before then as fags were making me feel so ill but I had 'Day 10' in my mind to stop and stuck with it) because I felt like I'd puke if I smoked! No willpower involed at that point, which surprised me. I still feel a bit nauseous a lot of the time but nothing major - better than the constant coughing and disguising the fag stench anyway.
Was worried I'd gain weight but so far, this hasn't happened and if anything, the nausea is making me eat less. If you are thinking about stopping, I'd say, it is worth giving the tabs a go, but I ould strongly encourage you to also read Alan Carr's Easy/Only Way to Stop Smoking, to get your head right, even if you have read this book before and failed to stop (like me - you can't argue with Carr's genius understanding of smoking and smokers).
Good Luck, and wish me luck!

Advantages: Fools your brain into thinking it's had a cigarette. Makes cigarettes taste foul. Disadvantages: A few side effects but nothing that can't be dealt with
