I feel that the resort is extremly expensive - we went for a 24 hour break (currently priced at £330) which included 1 nights accomodation, lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday, a massage, a mini facial and a manicure. Normal stays are for a minimum of two night with a standard room starting at £180. If you book far enough in advance you get a 20% discount - note that the discount does not apply to packages including treatments.
The resort is very nice, the gardens (that we didn't get to fully appreciate due to poor weather) look extremely nice. The facilities offered include
Swimming pool : quite small, filled with salty water. In a nice room with full length windows for views into the garden. Occasional aqua aerobics classes. Spa pool : one by the side of the swimming pool and two out in the garden Gym : well equipped gym Exercise studio : large room with a carpetting floor that was stained in some places where water had leaked through the roof. I attended stretch and pilates classes which were good - the disadvantage being that they were for beginngers. Spinning studio : only available for a couple of hours a day when the teachers are there. Art room : not a lot going on, they had crafts in the afternoon but nothing much seemed to be on offer. Beauty studio : very nice but very busy, book any treatments you want before you go as I wasn't able to book any treatments when I was there. Nail studio : again very nice but very busy. Coffee bar : very nice, in the old part of the building and very relaxing, however it is a bit hidden away. Bar : didn't use it - it was closed by the time we had finished dinner. Restaurant : very nice food, buffet lunch and sit down evening meal - note that wine is not allowed with lunch. There are two areas, one for standard guests and one for people dieting. Bedrooms : very nice, if you stay you are provided with a dressing gown for wandering around in, day guests get a dressing gown and slippers.
Overall view - it was an experience and I enjoyed it but wouldn't go back again. It is geared more toward beauty than fitness. Don't go there if you want nightlife of any kind we were the last people up at 10pm
Advantages: You may get to meet a celebrity! Disadvantages: It is very expensive
...the end of October 2004 Champneys Health Resorts brought out a new range of beauty products. You may or may not of heard of these yet. There have been many review on these products in many magazines and they are apparently said to be better than alot of the top brands of beauty products and even better: they are at half the price. The price range starts from as little as £5. this is for a hand and nail cream which I have already purchased and used ... ...don't have to go to Champneys Health Resorts to buy them. You can get them from most Sainsburys stores. You may of seen the Sainsburys advert on the television adverting these products a while ago.
These products are selling so fast that alot of the London high street stores have been running out of stock.
Champneys Health Resorts themselves are great. I have only visited Champneys Henlow, but I am aware there is also:

Advantages: wonderful massage and facial Disadvantages: intituional feel, poor general facilities.
...massage and a facial at Champneys Springs in Leics. I was not impressed by the building and the internal environment - long corridors with lots of people wondering around in write robes gave it an institional feel and the buildings were ugly and sprawling. The massage and facial we both agreed were wonderful and personalised and thalassotherapy pool was pleasant enough though I wouldn't pay for it separately. The shower rooms toilets had a mildewy ... ...awful and all other drinks (not tap water) had to be paid for. Lunch was buffet of salad though a freshly cooked wrap was offered - basic (Compare this to the wonderful 3 course lunches at Eden Hall). I thought it had little to offer if you didn't have any treatments. The good classes had an additional payment. There was a steam room in the changing rooms so you couldn't go in with your partner, there was a sauna and whirlipool, but nothing else. ...

Advantages: A TOTALLY RELAXING EXPERIENCE IN DELIGHTFUL SURROUNDINGS. WONDERFUL TO BE PAMPERED Disadvantages: TOO EXPENSIVE FOR REGULAR VISITS AND NOT ENOUGH RELAXING SEATS FOR PARTY OF FOUR
I went with my mother, daughter and daughter-in-law for a two day, three day break at Champneys, Forest Mere in Hampshire as a special treat. From the moment we commenced the drive through the beautiful grounds with a lake, we began to relax. The building was imposing, the staff were welcoming and the bedrooms very well appointed. We went straight to the dining room for a very well laid out buffet lunch with both hot and cold food with detailed nutritional ... ...and couldn't wait to go to our room to change into the 'uniform' which was a comfortable white towelling robe. There were a multitude of exercise classes we could have attended and a variety of equipment at the well equiped gym. Also tennis courts, bikes available and everything from gentle organised walks to power runs. However, we all went there to relax! We found everyone very accommodating and although our treatments had been pre-arranged (always ...

Champneys has lost its way and has lost the individual approach that is so important in the 'spa experience. I would not recommend it.There are plenty of other alternatives that make you feel pampered and special. ...

Advantages: Fantastic customer service, great location, more then just a health spa Disadvantages: Certainly pricey but well worth it
I visited Champneys Citypoint for the first time because I had been to Champneys Tring for my birthday and found it be to be soooo relaxing, so I was quite sceptical that Citypoint could actually even come close to my birthday indulgence...O ye of little faith. Champneys Citypoint is literally a 6 min walk from Liverpool st station and get this only a 3 min walk from Moorgate - what a way to start the lazy day!
As I walked into the reception area ... ...a manicure, I could have chosen pedicure but I think the "hold on a sec" giggling fits would probably annoy her just a little.
I felt like a zillion bucks as I skipped out of Champneys at 6.00 pm - The Champneys half-day escape is highly recommended and highly appreciated! ...
