As an avid fan of anything Chanel when this fragrance first came out and it hit the shelves here in Coventry I had to have a bottle of it to add to my ever growing collection of perfumes of course! I literally begged my Mother for it for my birthday but because of price I was amazed I actually got it lol!
It's been around now for a good few years and I had it even before the fabby advertising with Sophie Dahl was about! (I always knew I had excellent taste lol). To my eyes when I first spotted it in the shop (and sniffed it of course) I just felt that it oozed sex appeal and decadence. It's simply very elegant indeed and ladylike and very unlike me but hey I don't mind faking it if I have to from time to time lol!
The Packaging:
The bottle comes in a beautiful plain white sheen box with gold writing on it. Simple. The bottle is square with a t-bar see through white coloured lift off top that once again is simple to pull on and off. It's a see through glass bottle and made of a decent glass so it's not ugly and bulky looking but it is sturdy and robust at the same time. The liquid itself is a light rosy colour and you can see it through the glass bottle (of course lol). It is dispensed by a gold pump action sprayer which is situated at the top of bottle which gives a fine mist out every time you use it.
All in all it looks simple, elegant and sophisticated looking. The only annoying thing about this
bottle is that the t-bar does fall off which to be fair isn't a big problem it's just that I don't like it when I put the bottle in my handbag and I lose the lid and stuff in said handbag and it always seems to collect bits of dirt and fluff in it so I'd like to see Chanel sort that out!
What The Product Has To Say About Itself:
A floral Jasmine-Rose accord, light as a petal....
COCO MADEMOISELLE embodies all the modernity of the spirit of Mademoiselle CHANEL. Bold and resolute, she proved that elegance can be found in simplicity, and understated luxury. These values are shared by women in the twenty-first century, and restated by CHANEL in COCO MADEMOISELLE. The smell is lightly Floral, with Jasmine and Rose mingled. Delicate...
My Verdict:
Understated, beautiful and a fragrance for young and old alike it simply spans the ages this one it really does.
Although marketed at the younger generation (Chanel are trying hard to appeal to this market of consumers but coming up against z lister celeb perfumes, I'm so fond of them... not) I'd say that this perfume hits the mark and has won them alot of new customers. However this as I mentioned earlier isn't cheap to purchase!
Both me and my Mother own a bottle of this and both of us do beg for more when we run out for an occasion (such as birthdays or Christmas), we just wouldn't want to be without a drop in the house! As it's expensive I don't know anyone who uses it every day and night and therefore I use it as an occasional fragrance and it lasts me forever! You don't need a lot of it at all and it doesn't spray out loads which is a bonus!
It's very fresh, modern and all the things we expect from a Chanel fragrance and for me this is a really nice addition to the Chanel range and for me it smells 'Chanel' and slots into the range very well indeed.
To me the smell is musky with a drop of honey like smell running through it, followed with a light floral fragrance over the top, which is of course the gentle rose scent. I just can't explain the fragrance cos I can't put my finger on what it is really as it's a bit of a Kameleon scent wise!
I have of course told you that Chanel say it is Jasmine and Rose but to my nostrils it's so well blended with other 'notes' it doesn't smell like conventional Jasmine and/or Rose to me at all! If your familiar with 'Coco Chanel' (the big sister of this perfume) at all then this is similar yet a little more modern with a twist that is deemed to be oriental and a bit more floral heavy and still remaining lighter than that version and it lasts longer on the skin (in my experience).
It's an unusual smell this and my ex once said when I was wearing this perfume 'your mysterious tonight!'. Upon questioning this statement he did indeed say he meant the perfume and said he loved it and kept sniffing me! I just think it's very seductive and is lovely to wear and it's one that I wear and it don't wear me!
Many people have commented on this perfume and I wear it for night time use in the main as I said previously. It isn't heavy and it is delicate as I have mentioned in my review already. It does last on the skin but does fade rather quickly to the point for people to smell it they have to get up close and personal so to speak so it's perfect for a night of seduction! So if your going out on the tiles your best to take this out with you for a 'top up' if you want people to smell it on you.
It comes in Parfum, Eau De Parfum spray and Eau De Toilette. Other products available are body cream, hair mist, deodorant spray, body spray, body lotion, bath gel, moisture mist and soap. As the popularity grew for this fragrance so did all the products by the looks of it!
Pretty packaging, very simple, great perfume and a brilliant gift for a woman you care about this Christmas, even yourself!!!!!! I can't speak highly enough of it as it's one of the most sophisticated fragrances I own!
Prices, take a deep breath!!!!
100ml Eau De Parfum Cheapsmells.com £67.95 100ml Eau De Toilette Cheapsmells.com £53.95 20ml (with 2x20ml refills) Cheapsmells.com £43.95
Please note these are the cheapest prices I can find this fragrance at, at the moment but it is also stocked in Boot's and good department stores etc. A true investment for the sophisticated amongst us (or the fakers!) lol. Do shop about for it though!
