Neither Live Nor Kicking
Advantages: not on at the moment Disadvantages: poor presenting, boring features
...their 'winning' combination on 'Live & Kicking' actually existed, or whether children just watched it beacuse Open University was on the other side. Either way, hopefully 'The Priory' won't come back for another series on Channel 4, and will be left to rot in an early morning slot on E4. ...

A great reason to stay in on Saturday nights
Advantages: Lots of genres featured, well researched, good contributors, really entertaining show! Disadvantages: Could be boring if you didn't like the featured genre, but I don't think so!
...are compiled. Someone at Channel 4 puts them together, giving each one a points total which is usually based on chart success. The method used is normally explained by the presenter at the beginning, together with the reasons for any exceptions – for example in 80s Electro Pop Marc Almond explained that as he was the presenter, Soft Cell were exempted from being included (a little strange, however, as Culture Club did feature in 80s Romantics, presented ... ...more modest?!)
Another entertaining feature is that prior to each of the commercial breaks, they show clips of artists who just missed being included, or alternatively artists which fitted within the genre, but were just too awful to get a look in! In some cases they may feature a band who might have influenced the genre, but were not actually included: for example David Bowie and his influence on the New Romantic movement, and Kraftwerk and their ...

NME Carling Premier Shows
Advantages: Got that live feeling Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste
Once there was only Top of the Pops, now music shows seem to have taken over the whole of the TV.
Being a lover of music I see this as no bad thing, and I have particularly enjoyed these Carling Premier Shows. They feature a variety of well known and some lesser known indie bands live in concert, and are probably the next best thing to going to the gig itself.
They are not, however, probably everyones cup of tea, as it depends on which music genre ...

Great improvements in ordinary objects
Advantages: Not any other programmes like it Disadvantages: Maybe a bit dry for those not interested in design
I caught a few of the first series of this and this series is just as good. Two designers, Richard Seymour & Dick Powell, tackle the redesign of ordinary objects such as the burglar alarm, shopping trolley and razor. This are real projects and they have to convince some of the biggest names in retail to take their designs on. They look at other technology & use it to spark new ideas. The looked at racing cars to see how they could make trolleys steer ...
