Advantages: None that I can really think of! Disadvantages: Addictive TV, I hate to say
Here we are on series nine already and goddam it Im hooked already. I truly make a personal pledge to myself every year not to watch, not to let my voyeuristic tendancies take over, but having an addictive personality what can I do? We are into week two and already Im ready to do murder, why oh why do the same charachters re-appear year after year after year. You have the usual mix of egotistical, vacuous wanna-be Z list celebrities, who will no ......and fame!! A little synopsis of each contestant: LUKE: Quite a funny little charachter, reminds of a young William Hague(when he did that famous speech) Likeable though 7/10. REX: Comes from money supposedly, seems to be resented by other housematesfor this reason, does loads of cooking...good move LISA: Does this woman have a personality? She just seems to sit there and look vacantly at nothing in particular, just the other half of the 'plastic ... Read review
Advantages: great show Disadvantages: wish you were there
...that. It is on channel four saturday and sunday morning and is basically a programme in which young people are stranded on two dessert islands for 6 months trying to win a load of dosh. Each week a new member must choose between the islands and in the end the island with the most people left on is the winner. You get to see lots of flesh on this programme men and women and the sun seems to be shining most of the time. The whole programe is really ... Read review
Advantages: Good fun entertainment when it started Disadvantages: Well past it's sell by date
Intro: ------- When Wife Swap started on Channel 4 a few years ago it was a very good programme with a very simple but strong format. Sadly the new series, which started on Channel 4 last week with a celebrity episode involving the rather disgusting John McCirick and Edwina 'famous for sleeping with John Mayor' Currie, is definately past its sell by date, with exactly the same stereotypes and arguments. Namely, take one snobby person and swap them ......of you not familiar with Wife Swap, the title is pretty self-explanatory. One wife from one family is swapped with one wife from another family. They then live with their adoptive families for two weeks, with the wives having the opportunity to implement their own rules after a week. At the end of the programme, which lasts an hour, the families meet to discuss what has happened and how they can be better families. Sometimes during a particularly ... Read review
Advantages: Made great viewing, caused a right fuss. Disadvantages: Felt sorry for Shilpa, Jade got paid for it.
...to death or similar. Channel Four have managed to use a much more racist contestant from Shipwrecked (who said of black people "from what I've heard, they're pretty bad."). Jade was a bully more than a racist, it was Jack who used the word "p**i" and as for that mother of hers….. The most uncomfortable thing was Davina having a go at Jade and Jo. Each time they showed the news reports and their faces I had to look away. It was cringe making. Danielle, ......made for better viewing. Channel Four was slated in the papers as Channel Fourth Reich, effigies of the producers were burnt on the streets of India and the UK learnt that no publicity is bad publicity…….Isn't that right? Where are they now?? Bet they wish they'd stayed obscure. ... Read review
Advantages: Educational, Entertaining Disadvantages: None for me!
First shown on Channel 4 way back in 1994, this is a programme that I would watch with my parents. I have to admit that I did not take much notice of it then, but in recent weeks have taken to watching the re-runs on the More4 channel. The current series is running on Channel 4 at 5.45 pm on Sunday evenings. Presented by Tony Robinson (who many will remember as Baldrick in the Black Adder series), Time Team is essentially a programme about archaeology ......as far as the Bronze Age. The main remit of the show is the fact that the team travel around the country and carry out digs at various locations where there could be some historical interest. One programme that was very interesting was where a middle aged couple unearthed a skeleton in their garden, and it turned out that their garden was actually part of a 7th century graveyard. Other regulars in the series are archaeologists Mick Aston, Francis ... Read review
