Big Brother
Advantages: Nightly Entertainment, Can Be Good At Times Disadvantages: Ran Out of Ideas, Repetitive
...one series to go (on Channel 4 anyway) you would expect the last series to be the best. However, the producers seem to have completely ran out of ideas for the show and obvious things which could make it more entertaining are never used. Time for the production team to listen to Frankie Boyle's ideas (Mock the Week fans will know what I mean). It's probably for the best that it is coming to an end. Although, if a new channel was to take up the rights ...

Cigarettes and alcohol, benefits and bust ups!
Advantages: Something different Disadvantages: Samey
...their target audience. But like Wife Swap, the early series were best as they quickly went from "social experiments" to vehicles for people to be just on TV doing the silliest of things. Wife Swap was perhaps the worst for this, soon deteriorating into fat uncouth working-class people slagging each other off between cigarettes and swigging canned lager, inviting a more sneering viewer to tune in. The first two series were interesting as you had middle-class ... ...on it became sink estate wife mixing with upwardly mobile working-class and lots its spark, the couples too samey. There has to be a contrast for these shows to work. Basically these were people plodding along in dead end marriages using the TV show as some kind of therapy to sort out their relationships. We would get to the final showdown bit in the hotel and the two couples were like snarling Rotweilers on the lead ready to go at each others necks, ...

It's STILL not over... My Nastiest Review So Far!
Advantages: Made great viewing, caused a right fuss. Disadvantages: Felt sorry for Shilpa, Jade got paid for it.
...to death or similar. Channel Four have managed to use a much more racist contestant from Shipwrecked (who said of black people "from what I've heard, they're pretty bad."). Jade was a bully more than a racist, it was Jack who used the word "p**i" and as for that mother of hers…..
The most uncomfortable thing was Davina having a go at Jade and Jo. Each time they showed the news reports and their faces I had to look away. It was cringe making. Danielle, ... ...made for better viewing. Channel Four was slated in the papers as Channel Fourth Reich, effigies of the producers were burnt on the streets of India and the UK learnt that no publicity is bad publicity…….Isn't that right? Where are they now?? Bet they wish they'd stayed obscure. ...

Oh Brother
Advantages: ... Disadvantages: ...
~Introduction~
Big Brother is, and, since it started in those hazy days of 2000, has always been the highlight of my television calendar. I would be the first to admit that I am a sucker for a good reality TV programme, and Big Brother is the daddy of them all.
It all began in Holland, when a little known TV show called 'Big Brother' hit the air. It soon became the countries most watched programme and the company that owns the rights to it, Endemol, ... ...4 didn't expect much of Big Brother 1, and neither did the British public. I can remember reading a little article in a National Newspaper that told of channel 4 starting this show, presented by Davina McCall. The brought the dates forward from what it said on the paper, which ended up in me missing the whole 1st week of Big Brother.
~Cheap C4~
In retrospect, and after watching clips of the first Big Brother on the television, it was all very cheap. ...

Who In The Hell Dreamed This Up. ShamPOO Indeed!
Advantages: I suppose it would entertain some people Disadvantages: People getting their hair done.....ON TV?!?!
...become a global plague amongst the law abiding tax payers who fork out for their licesnses. Channel 4 has gripped this phenomenom by the whatevers and exploted it for all it's worth. The Salon was a reality TV show aired on channel 4 during late afternoons.
The concept of The Salon is very simple: get a posh hairdressers, some cameras and film people.....having their hair done?!? So what's so interesting about this programme? To be honest, I'm not ... ...than to sit infront of the telly watching people have a lovley rinse done while chatting about clubbing and holidays. I could go into my local hairdressers with a camcorder and do that for free.
Before you say anything, I'm not one of those people that just hear of something and dismiss it as dire straight away without trying it first. I actually did sit down to watch it, just to see if I could fathom why someone in the Channel 4 boardroom had the ...
