This wonderful series offers an insight into the life of Elizabeth I, from her childhood to her death; not only looking at the Virgin Queen, Gloriana, but at the woman behind the white make up, which had intense feelings just like any other woman. Dr David Starkey, the writer, presenter and narrator of this series, oozes enthusiasm, knowledge and intensity whenever he is on camera, and his is particularly compelling when dealing with Elizabeth's ... ...filler images that occur - flying birds, trees and clouds all feature when there is nothing else to look at. But if you are willing to see past that, your patience will be rewarded.
