What is the secret to making a comedy series that will last? One way to find out for sure is to look at “Frasier” – Paramount TV’s spin-off show to the popular 80s series “Cheers”. Frasier Crane started his life on out TV screens as a regular customer of Cheers bar in Boston. He was a psychiatrist who was left at the alter by Cheers barmaid Diane and went on to find happiness in wife Dr Lilith Sternin, a fellow psychiatrist. Together Lilith and Frasier ... ...Boston.
However this happiness didn’t last very long and Frasier found himself getting a divorce from Lilith and moving to the city he grew up in – Seattle. This is where we rejoin him in the spin off show called “Frasier”.

The Frasier executive production team are David Angelle, David Lee and Peter Casey. The trio worked together on Cheers as writers and producers, and obviously encountered the character ...

Advantages: Repartee and sophistication Disadvantages: A bit tired now
Remember when Friends was good and everyone was watching and talking about it? Well, before it became the tepid, shadow of its self that it is at the moment and at about the same time it started, another sit-com was being shown. A spin off of the series Cheers, it was set in Seattle and starred the ‘lovably pompous’ pyschiatrist Frasier Crane (played by Kelsey Grammer).
This series has (for me) become one of the funniest things on TV. ... ...sophistication from the audience. Whilst it does feature it’s fair share of slap-stick or farcical moments, more often than not it relied on witty repartee or at best, just a perfectly timed facial expression to carry the joke with no explanation. Best of all, it didn’t feature an audience that whooped if one of the character blinked or hugged another character.
To briefly set the scene of Frasier - he’s divorced his wife, moved ...

...10pm slot on Friday nights, Channel Four, but in recent weeks it has made way for South Park, and is now shown on Thursdays at 10pm. It doesnt seem to be shown on E4 at all.
Well?
I love Frasier, and almost everyone can associate the character of Frasier with someone they know! It is a slightly different type of comedy, but once you get into it, it is very good. Don't write it off as stupid before you have seen a few episodes. C4, 10pm, Thursday ...

Advantages: Frasier is a graet actor, frasiers dad's chair Disadvantages: none
...usually spend my time watching channel 4 who usually have a great line up of comedy on friday but has now lost one of my fave's frasier.
I have been watching frasier since i was nine and i still don't get the plot its about a seattle psychiatrist named frasier (Kelsey Grammer) who works on the local radio station as a kind of agony aunt. In his house live his dad martin (John Mahoney) or marty as he is called his home-care provider daphne moon (Jane ... ...the paramount comedy channel if your fortunate to have digital, cable or satallite television at 10pm from monday to friday. I would go into more detail about the show but I don't wan't to spoil it for the people that haven't seen frasier at work. Thanks for reading my op ...

Advantages: funny, witty, many episodes Disadvantages: sometimes silly
...top sitcom, currently shown on channel 4 and the Paramount channel. It has been running for a good many years, so I assume I'm not alone in liking this series!
Its set mostly in Frasier's penthouse apartment, where he lives with his dad Marty and Marty's physio-therapist and housekeeper, Daphne. Frasier's brother Niles makes frequent visits to the house.
*The Characters*
"Frasier Crane" - (Kelsey Grammar)
Frasier was first seen in the sitcom ... ...regulars and what happened in their lives. The show, Frasier, picks up from that, in that he left Boston (where Cheers was) after a painful break up with his wife Lilleth and moved to Seattle to be a radio psychologist. He has a son, Frederick, who makes an appearance in the show from time to time. Frasier is a middle-aged psychologist who is witty, snobbish and pompous. He enjoys fine wine, fine food, opera and strange ornaments, such as the "fertility ...

Advantages: Another free channel that could be good Disadvantages: Never complain when it's free
...E4 is the new channel from the makers of channel4. It is available on satallite, cable and digital T.V. (For Sky digital viewers it is number 205.) The channel was launched yesterday by Ali G. Aiii! The first 2 programs ever to be shown on it were both Friends episodes. This was followed by ER and Eurotrash and other repeats of programs already shown on channel4. Other programs that will be shown later are Ally McBeal, Frasier etc.
Channel4, who already run Filmfour, a really great film channel, have made a channel4 version of ITV2, but ITV2 isn't even avaliable on sky digital. This channel (E4) will offer much more than ITV2. At the moment it is only broadcasting in the evening, like channel 5 when it was released, but I am sure it will be running 24/7 soon.
There's not too much that can be said about E4 at the moment. It...

...in humans that makes us want to know all about these events. Channel4 also got the big shows that the main channels didn't want or believe in - Friends, ER, Frasier, Brookside. Unfortunately for Channel4, Sky One also has them now and shows Friends and ER in particular well in advance of Channel4. If you want rude stuff, Channel4 has it - but Sky One has more. If you want excellent news, the Beeb still wins that one. If you want ground breaking documentaries, Channel4 wins hands down. Of course, the other thing that Channel4 seems to excel at, it showing the horse racing .......

Advantages: Keeps my wife happy Disadvantages: Terribel viewing
...As my wife rolls around the floor with Laughter during Ally McBeal, I sit there, asking her to point out what was funny.
Directions, a map-reading, Global positioning? Anything... Just please point out where the humour is?
It has got to be one of the worst programmes on TV. An American attempt at dry wit I think.
Whereas Frasier also fits in this humour bracket, it is aimed at a slightly different market. Ally McBeal is aimed more towards women than Frasier.
They both occupy similar timeslots on Channel4 but on different days.
I dont like either programme really but I can actually sit through an episode of Frasier.
I liken Ally McBeal to an unfunny version of the hit 80's BBC2 show, Moonlighting with Bruce Willis.
That was actually good as the characters were not too serious. Ally McBeal tries to hard to portray...
