Grand designs is another home developing show but in huge proportions.
The programme is on our screens for an hour at 9pm - 10pm on a wednesday night and is hosted by Kevin McCloud.
Each episode shows a couples dream house and these can vary in style, shape and size, there have been traditional, eco friendly, historical and so on and so on.
The first part of the programme shows the couples plans and what their idea's are for the project, some look quite odd and it leaves you wondering what on earth it is going to look like as some have very strange visions in their mind and others look awe inspiring.
You then follow them and see how the house goes from nothing into a raw structure and then into their home and in some cases it takes them years to complete, but when you see the final house it really shows on their faces that they have completed their dreams and has been so worth it.
A few weeks ago a carpenter did the whole project himself, the only help he had was from friends doing little odd jobs here and there, he made the whole house out of wood and gave such detail to everything he did. When I saw the end result it was truly magnificant, the doors had flowers engraved into them, there was even a tree stump he had made into a feature, the outside of the property was all self sufficient as he had planted fruit trees and a vegetable plot. The best thing was that as the house ages then the wood changes aswell which will add character to the building too, truly lovely.
I tend to find the eco houses the best as it really shows how you can live in a home and not have to worry about everyday household bills as everything they use is either recyclable or generated by the wind or the sun, so they have no worries in the future, the only downside to this is the cost as it does not come cheap but it will be given back through the years from the savings made.
I find the show quite inspiring as these people turn their dreams into reality, they take on huge financial risks at times as they take out loans and have even been known to add huge amounts to their credit cards just to get the project finished.
If you have dreams and aspirations of building your own stunning home then this is definatly for you, I myself would love to be in a position to do the same, but for now I will just watch others complete theirs.
Thankyou for reading.

Advantages: Great show for that midweek TV boredom, Kirsty and Phil's dynamics Disadvantages: Too short, and the buyers are sometimes incredibly irritating
